From the first description in 2016 till today, hundreds of studies have extensively presented Erector Spinae Plane block as an excellent perioperative analgesic technique especially in a multimodal pain management scenario. Only in few cases, this technique was used alone to provide surgical anesthesia.

An effective analgesic method during the acute phase of HZ can contribute to decrease the incidence of postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) by reducing neural sensitization. Sciatic nerve block (SNB) is useful in the management of distal lower extremity pain sustained by the sciatic nerve.

A large debate has been raised to identify the caseload necessary for an appropriate learning curve before systematic use of CAS. This study examined (1) the timing of periprocedural complications during CAS and how these complications vary over time to identify factors that contribute to neurologic morbidity and (2) a sufficient number of procedures for adequate training.

Methods: Three hundred and one case subjects undergoing CAS with cerebral protection and 301 concurrent matched-controls undergoing CEA were examined. Matching was by sex, age (+/-2 years), symptoms and coronary disease.
