Object: Although neuroendoscopic biopsy is routinely performed, the safety and validity of this procedure has been studied only in small numbers of patients in single-center reports. The Section of Neuroendoscopy of the Italian Neurosurgical Society invited some of its members to review their own experience, gathering a sufficient number of cases for a wide analysis.

Methods: Retrospective data were collected by 7 centers routinely performing neuroendoscopic biopsies over a period of 10 years.

Background: High grade gliomas are one of the most difficult cancers to treat and despite surgery, radiotherapy and temozolomide-based chemotherapy, the prognosis of glioma patients is poor. Resistance to temozolomide is the major barrier to effective therapy. Alternative therapeutic approaches have been shown to be ineffective for the treatment of genetically unselected glioma patients.

Objective And Importance: Parenchymal perianeurysmal cysts are rare, and only seven cases have been reported. We present a case report with a 30 month follow-up on this topic. The possible etiopathogenetic mechanisms of cyst formation are discussed.

Objective: To introduce the possibility of volume-rendered helical computed tomographic (CT) angiographic data sets by use of Medtronic StealthStation Treon surgical navigation technology (Medtronic Surgical Navigation Technologies, Louisville, CO) and to evaluate the clinical usefulness of the method in planning and performing surgical treatment of intracranial aneurysms.

Methods: Between November 2002 and July 2003, we studied 15 patients with suspected intracranial aneurysms. All patients but two received conventional digital subtraction angiography, which failed to provide the requested information.
