Importance: Hypoglossal nerve stimulation (HGNS) is a potential alternative therapy for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), but its efficacy in a clinical setting and the impact of body mass index (BMI; calculated as weight in kilograms divided by height in meters squared) on treatment response remain unclear.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFPurpose Of Review: Infectious mononucleosis (IM) is an infectious disease that presents clinically in only a small percentage of individuals despite almost universal infection with the causative agent. Here, we review the latest concepts in the clinical presentation, epidemiology, and host response of this disease.
Recent Findings: Several recently published papers/reviews describe IM as a condition caused by one of several etiologic agents including, cytomegalovirus (HHV-5), Roseola virus (HHV-6) and Toxoplasmosis amongst others; this review focuses on IM as solely caused by the human herpes virus 4 (HHV-4).
In this article, I employ a psychodynamic lens to describe how women's fantasies of time as standing still, which is encouraged by sociocultural forces, is used to undermine the notion of the biological clock. These fantasies, also fueled by the timeless nature of the unconscious, can lead to hesitancy in not only initiating fertility treatment but also in complying with fertility treatment recommendations. When this happens, hesitancy is often unconsciously utilized in a conflict about becoming a mother.

Deficiency in older adults is associated with depression and cognitive dysfunction, such that enhancing sleep slow waves has emerged as a promising target for novel therapies.
