View Article and Find Full Text PDFObjetive: Percutaneous occlusion of patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) has classically been performed entirely by fluoroscopy, however in recent years, transthoracic echocardiography (TE) has been used as an aid to fluoroscopy or entirely by echocardiography, which avoids access of femoral artery, use of contrast and decrease in time and dose of radiation exposure. The objective of this study was to evaluate the success rate with the use of TE in percutaneous PDA closure.
Material And Method: Descriptive, comparative, retrospective study between patients in whom PDA closure was performed with fluoroscopy plus angiography (group 1) and fluoroscopy plus ET (group 2), between January 2018 and December 2022.
Objective: To identify the learning needs and the orientations received by patients in the preoperative period of coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG).
Method: Descriptive study, with a qualitative approach. Data collection took place from January to April 2021, through interviews carried out with 13 pre-operative patients admitted to the cardiovascular unit of a university hospital in Northeastern Brazil.
Introduction: The adaptation of people with ostomies may be associated with and affected by sociodemographic and clinical factors. The present study aimed to investigate the association between the sociodemographic and clinical characteristics and the adaptation of people with an intestinal stoma.
Method: An analytical study, carried out through an interview with 200 patients with ostomy for five months.

Introduction: Congenital heart defects (CHD) are the most frequent congenital birth defects, affecting approximately 1% of newborns and constituting the main cause of death among all congenital malformations. The prevalence of CHD in Andean America is heterogeneous and in Peru the burden of CHD is unknown.
Objective: To describe the trends of CHD outpatient visits and mortality and their variation according to sex, age and altitude levels.
The specification of a particular activated carbon adsorbents for removal of phenol and related derivatives, from dilute aqueous solutions, is still based on lengthy trial and error experimental tests. A predictive model of adsorption of these compounds would considerably reduce the carbon selection time and could also bring new information to support more efficient carbon synthesis. The use of molecular simulation and the methodology of representative pores proved to be adequate for quantitative prediction of phenol adsorption.

Acid-base crosslinking occurred between the sulfonic acid groups of SPSf and the tertiary amine groups of the embedded ZIF-67, which improved the dispersion of ZIF-67 and simultaneously improved the membrane strzcture and permselectivity. Methods: Longitudinal study that analyzed 215 milk samples from the 51 mothers of PTNB admitted in three Neonatal Intensive Care Units of Rio de Janeiro from May/2013-January/2014. Milk collection was performed by pickup pump, on a fixed day of each week until discharge.
Introduction: Many studies have been developed to investigate the relationship between urinary incontinence (UI) and female sexuality especially how it interferes on the sexual function of affected women, but many questions remain unclear.
Objectives: To summarize the relevant scientific literature published in the last 10 years that focused on the study of the impact of UI on the sexual function of incontinent women.
Methods: The PubMed and Bireme databases were searched using the keyword string "urinary incontinence" and "sexual function" or "sexual satisfaction" or "sexuality" for studies focusing the impact of UI on the sexual function of affected women older than 18 years, published in the last 10 years.

Method: a methodological research for the construction and validation of an educational booklet by nine expert judges and 25 people with stomas. The agreement index of at least 80% was considered to guarantee the validation of the material.

Thus, in order to study possible MetS-related alterations in dogs, human MetS criteria were adapted to define canine MetS or so-called obesity-related metabolic dysfunction (ORMD).
