The prevalence of dental caries presents a global public challenge, particularly in children. Traditional caries risk assessment tools like Cariogram are effective but often complex and resource intensive. The aim of the present study was to introduce, for the first time, a newly designed caries risk assessment (CRA) tool named Index of Caries Risk (ICR) and to evaluate its efficacy for pediatric patients.

Methods: The CBCT imaging of 36 children (mean age 8,4; SD,1,5) were retrospectively selected and then traced in order to evaluate the change in the nasal bone (primary outcome) and in the maxilla (secondary outcome). Five distances and one angle were measured: upper and lower nasal bone width (UNBw and LNBw) as well as its inclination (NBi), and the maxillary bone at the level of infraorbital foramen (IOFw), the nasolacrimal duct (NLDd), and greater palatine foramina (PFd).
Dental decay is a prevalent bacterial disease affecting a significant percentage of children globally. In paediatric dentistry, various materials are available for restoring deciduous teeth, addressing both functional and aesthetic concerns. However, paediatric dentists encounter challenges related to patient compliance, limited working time, and material handling.

As consequence, the caregiver is taking on an increasingly important role that gains relevance also in the field of oral-dental prevention, being able to promptly identify needs for medical treatment. In some cases, however, the caregiver can be an obstacle to consider in case of a lack of adequate knowledge and commitment.

This area is still quite unknown within the dental community, despite the potential impact these conditions can have on both oral care and health. Previous studies have concluded that both pregnant women and mothers have been found to be particularly sensitive to the risk of developing mental disorders such as anxiety and major depression.

The enamel of deciduous teeth is less resistant than permanent dentition and for this reason demineralization, and consequent caries formation, progresses more rapidly. The purpose of this study is to investigate the correlation between the incidence of caries and intake of sugary drinks in pediatric patients.

This study analyzed the literature and assessed whether these concepts remain valid and applicable in clinical practice, evaluating the theories with a group of patients followed by an experienced orthodontic team.
Methods: This study was retrospectively performed on 400 patients (241 females and 159 males) who underwent orthodontic treatments.

Pregnancy is a critical time for a woman since it involves a series of changes in the body due to hormonal fluctuations and changes that can also influence the oral cavity and can lead to certain pathologies, such as carious lesions. Furthermore, it has been demonstrated over the years that having poor dental health during pregnancy might have a significant impact on the child's oral health. The aim of the study is to analyze the level of knowledge and information of mothers on the importance of oral health care before, during, and after pregnancy as a preventive factor for the future oral health of the child.

(2) Methods: specimens were placed in a stainless-steel mold with an orifice of 4 mm in diameter and 10 mm in depth and light-cured for 20 s using a light emitting diode (LED) light-curing unit (LCU) with an irradiance of 1000 mW/cm2; depth of cure was assessed using the ISO 4049 scrape technique, and the absolute length of the specimen of cured composite was measured in millimeters with a digital caliper. The same procedure was repeated with 14 samples for each material under investigation, for a total number of 70 test bodies.

Materials And Methods: A search strategy was developed on electronic databases including Medline, Web of Science, Scopus and Cochrane Collaboration Trial from 1925 to 2019. Two reviewers independently reviewed the sources deciding for a full reading according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria.
Aim: This study aims to evaluate the dental dimension in cleft lip and palate patients presenting agenesis of at least an upper lateral incisor and to compare the results with those of two control groups. A control group consisted of general orthodontic patients without agenesis, while the other group consisted of orthodontic patients with agenesis of at least one upper lateral incisor.
Methods: Records of 40 (30 male, 10 female) cleft lip and palate patients (Group A), 40 (17 male, 23 female) patients representing the control group of general orthodontic patients (Group B) and 40 patients (14 male, 26 female) with at least one missing lateral incisor (Group C) were collected and analysed.
Introduction: The aims of this investigation were to evaluate associations between orthodontic space closure (including first premolar intrusion and canine extrusion for esthetic reasons) and periodontal tissue deterioration over a 10-year period in subjects with one or both missing maxillary lateral incisors and to investigate the occurrence of signs or symptoms of temporomandibular disorder (TMD).
Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study comprising patients treated by the same orthodontist. The agenesis group included 26 consecutive adolescent and young adult patients (9 male, 17 female) treated with space closure.
Aim: The present study aimed to evaluate the cephalometric effects of a headgear anchored to the deciduous second molars in the early mixed dentition.
Materials And Methods: Study design: The study followed a retrospective longitudinal design and enrolled 31 consecutive patients (17 females and 14 males) treated with high pull (HP) headgear anchored to the deciduous second molars, average age 8y 5m± 5m at pre-treatment time (T0) and 9y 8m± 6m at post-treatment time (T1). All the patients wore the headgear for approximately 8-10 hours at night, with a force of 250 g per side.
Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the reaction of untouched permanent molars following RPE, anchored on deciduous teeth in the early mixed dentition, aimed to solve maxillary anterior crowding in the absence of posterior cross-bite.
Methods: A prospective clinical trial comprised 35 consecutive patients (20 males and 15 females) treated by the same orthodontist (MR). All patients showed crowding of the upper permanent incisors in the early mixed dentition in the absence of posterior cross-bite.

Aim: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of Haas RPE anchored on deciduous teeth in the early mixed dentition, for inducing the spontaneous correction of permanent incisor's crossbite, without compliance, without post bite-plane and no involvement of the permanent teeth.
Materials And Methods: The sample group comprised 50 consecutive patients (mean age 8y 5m, SD 2y 1m), 31 males, 19 females. They showed a cross-bite affecting one or more permanent incisors, for a total of 70 teeth.
The role of different cytokines and cells of immune system in the pathogenesis of chronic GVHD (cGVHD) is still controversial. Earlier studies, which were either retrospective or analysed one or a few factors, did not show unequivocal results. We prospectively evaluated cytokine levels and lymphocyte subsets in 30 patients who underwent Allo-SCT to investigate their possible correlation with cGVHD.

Background And Aims: The metabolic profile and morphologic aspects of normal and pathologic human gastric mucosa were studied. The aim of the present research was the application of ex vivo high-resolution magic angle spinning magnetic resonance spectroscopy (HR-MAS MRS) to the human gastric tissue to get information on the molecular steps involved in gastric carcinogenesis and the identification of biochemical markers useful for the development of in vivo MRS methodologies to diagnose gastric pathologies in clinical situations.
Methods: Twelve normal subjects, five with autoimmune atrophic gastritis, five with Helicobacter pylori infection, and five with adenocarcinoma were examined.
Cholesteryl esters (CholE) were detected in human malignant neoplasms by means of in vitro nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Spectroscopic analysis of the total lipid extracts obtained from cerebral tumors revealed appreciable amount of esterified cholesterol in high grade gliomas such as glioblastomas and anaplastic oligodendrogliomas, characterized by prominent neovascularity. The finding that no CholE were detected in the healthy brain and in low grade and benign tumors supports a possible correlation between this class of lipids and histological vascular proliferation.

Here, we start from the observation that different antibodies against human CD8 exert opposite effects on MHC-peptide tetramer binding to the TCR: tetramer staining was enhanced by OKT8 antibody, while it was blocked with SK1 antibody. We used these different anti-CD8 antibodies to modulate CD8 function during tetramer staining of Melan-A/MART1-specific CTL clones.
