Background: In the digital age, social media platforms such as YouTube have become significant channels for disseminating health information, including content related to autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The quality and reliability of this information, especially when produced by healthcare professionals, are crucial for public health education and promotion. This study aims the content of Portuguese-language videos about the treatment of ASD on YouTube, produced by healthcare providers from 2019 to 2023, assessing their quality and alignment with evidence-based practices.

First record of the rare tubeshoulder Holtbyrnia anomala Krefft 1980 (Teleostei, Platytroctidae) in the southwest Atlantic.

Holtbyrnia anomala is a bathypelagic platytroctid widely distributed in the Atlantic Ocean. In this contribution, we report, for the first time, the occurrence of this species in the tropical southwest Atlantic. A single specimen was collected in 2000 on the continental slope off Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, at an average depth of 1158 m.

Portuguese-language content about autism spectrum disorder on YouTube: a cross-sectional study.

Aim: This study evaluated the quality and reliability of information about autism spectrum disorder (ASD) available in Portuguese on YouTube, based on the growing demand for accessible information about ASD and the relevance of digital platforms as sources of health information.

Methods: Using a cross-sectional observational study design, videos published in the last 5 years with more than 50,000 views were selected. The analysis consisted of two stages: characterization of the profile of the selected videos and assessment of information quality with the DISCERN Questionnaire.

Postoperative pain after endodontic treatment using 8.25% vs 2.5% sodium hypochlorite in necrotic mandibular molars with apical periodontitis: A randomized double-blind clinical trial.

Longer light-curing time decreases the effect of ageing on composite resin hardness used in root reinforcement.

This study evaluated the hardness of a composite resin used for root reinforcement, considering the light-curing time, root canal region and ageing due to long-term storage. Twenty incisor roots were reinforced using composite resin, varying the photopolymerisation time (40 or 120 s). Following fibre post cementation, the roots were transversely sectioned into coronal, middle and apical regions.

Tetracycline staining of the dentition: a review of the literature and report of a clinical case.

The present article reviews the literature regarding tetracycline staining of the dentition and its esthetic management. A total of 49 articles were identified in the initial search, and 22 articles met the eligibility criteria of this narrative literature review. Tetracycline staining results from its use in children between the ages of 6 months and 6 years, when tooth crowns are formed; the effects are dependent on the dosage, duration of treatment, stage of tooth mineralization, and activity of the mineralization process.

Effect of the timing of primary endodontic treatment and dosage of radiation therapy on the filling material removal.

This study investigated the effect of the timing of primary endodontic treatment and dosage of radiotherapy on the remaining filling material (RFM) during endodontic reintervention. 60 single-rooted human mandibular premolars were distributed into five groups (n = 12), according to the timing and dosage of radiation (55Gy or 70Gy): NegativeCG-non-irradiated teeth; Endo-pre-RT-obturation before irradiation (55Gy or 70Gy); Endo-post-RT-obturation and reintervention after irradiation (55Gy or 70Gy). Roots were cleaved and analysed under stereomicroscope and Scanning Electron Microscope to quantify (%) the RFM.

The history of families at-risk for hereditary breast and ovarian cancer: what are the impacts of genetic counseling and testing?

Introduction: Cancer Genetic Counseling (CGC) and genetic testing (GT) assume a paramount role for hereditary cancer predisposition syndrome families. We assessed the effects of CGC and GT on women affected by cancer who are at risk for hereditary breast and ovarian cancer predisposition syndrome (HBOC).

Methods: This study encompasses four time points: before the CGC session, after the CGC session when blood is drawn for GT, after disclosure of GT results, and six months following disclosure of GT results.

Here, we provide evidence from comparisons of morphology, ecology, and sexual systems for its inclusion in Serranus and redescribe the species based on the holotype and 60 specimens from Brazil, the Caribbean, the United States, and Uruguay. Serranus fusculus is a simultaneous hermaphrodite, a sexual system that is relevant to its generic placement.

Two Portuguese institutions, the Museu Maynense da Academia das Cincias de Lisboa (ACL), and the Museu da Cincia da Universidade de Coimbra (MCUC), house a collection of 85 dried fish specimens prepared in what can be called a fish-herbaria following a process similar to that developed by the Dutch naturalist Johan Frederic Gronovius (16901762).
