Dentists are among the groups that prescribe the most antibiotics, often to delay urgent treatment. Materials And Methods: Participants were invited to classify 30 images of oral lesions in "benign" or "suspected malignant" only based on the visual appearance of the lesion. Diagnostic accuracy was assessed by calculating sensitivity and specificity with 95% confidence intervals and stratified by population group and image features (color, shape, and size of the lesions).
Objectives: The aim of the present review and meta-analysis was to evaluate the influence of soft tissue thickness on initial bone remodeling after implant installation.
Materials And Methods: A literature search was conducted by two independent reviewers on electronic databases up to May 2022. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and controlled clinical trials (CCTs) performed on human subjects were included.
The relationship between periodontitis and such systemic disorders as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and obesity has been extensively investigated. There is less scientific evidence available, however, regarding the influence of systemic diseases on the risk of late failure of dental implant rehabilitation due to peri-implantitis. The aim of the present study was to review the literature on the role of several common systemic disorders (diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, hypertension and osteoporosis) in the onset of peri-implantitis.

The aim of this study is to present a novel technique that combines the surgical and orthodontic approach in order to obtain the retrieval of impacted second molars through a complex distalizing movement and skeletal anchorage.
Methods: Nineteen consecutive patients with impacted second molars were treated according to this technique, which involved extraction of the third molar followed by the placement of a distally positioned screw, and the subsequent use of a coil spring to connect the screw to an eyelet directly bonded on the second molar.
Oral health is fundamental to our well-being, especially in adolescence. The aim of this study is to investigate oral hygiene knowledge through a questionnaire in a sample of adolescents, paying particular attention to those wearing orthodontic braces. The use of guided surgery may facilitate the surgical procedures and the implant insertion in case of severely resorbed maxillae. Methods: The study concerned 22 patients (11 females and 11 males) in good general health, who were referred to the Dental Clinic at Padova University hospital for lower third molar extractions. They were randomly assigned to two groups.
Objectives: This study aimed to assess the prevalence of incidental findings, not strictly related to dentistry, viewed with panoramic radiography.
Methods: Panoramic radiographs performed between December 2013 and June 2016 were retrospectively collected. These images were analyzed, searching for incidental findings.
Purpose: The aim of this systematic review was to estimate if an antibiotic prophylaxis regimen reduces implant failure and postoperative infection in healthy patients who are going to receive dental implants.

Several treatment modalities have been proposed to regenerate bone, including guided bone regeneration (GBR) where barrier membranes play an important role by isolating soft tissue and allowing bone to grow. Not all membranes biologically behave the same way, as they differ from their origin and structure, with reflections on their mechanical properties and on their clinical performance. Collagen membranes have been widely used in medicine and dentistry, because of their high biocompatibility and capability of promoting wound healing.

Purpose: To evaluate the reliability of a conometric system for fixed retention of complete prostheses (CPs) on four implants after 5 years of function.
Materials And Methods: Twenty-five patients with a completely edentulous mandible received four implants supporting a CP. A total of 100 implants were immediately loaded with CPs on conometric abutments.

Materials And Methods: A total of 49 patients, who required at least two implants, had two sites randomised according to a split-mouth design to receive one abutment of each type at seven different centres. The time of loading (immediate, early or delayed) and of prosthesis (provisional crowns of fixed prosthesis) was decided by the clinicians, but they had to restore both implants in a similar way.
Purpose: The aim of this in vitro study was to verify whether or not stock and computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) abutments show similar precision in the connection with the respective implants.
Materials And Methods: Ten CAD/CAM titanium abutments were compared with 10 stock titanium abutments. Each abutment fit a regular-platform implant (Institute Straumann).
