Aesthetics is a challenging aspect to restore for both dentists and dental technicians. One of the characteristics of aesthetic restoration is the shade. The purpose of the study is to assess the accuracy of the shade selection feature of intraoral scanners (CEREC Omnican, 3Shape TRIOS) in comparison with an already established method-the VITA Easyshade V spectrophotometer (VE)-and test if there is any significant difference between the three devices.

Herewith, we propose a comprehensive study of the vibrational response of chemical doping of free-standing graphene (Gr). Complementary insights on the increased metallicity have been demonstrated by the emerging plasmon excitation in the upper Dirac cone, observed by inelastic electron scattering and core-level photoemission. The electron migration in the π* upper Dirac band unveils an electron-phonon coupling of contaminant-free K-doped Gr, as evidenced by advanced micro-Raman spectroscopy in ultrahigh vacuum ambient.

Background: Prescribing errors put an enormous burden on health and the economy, claiming implementation of effective methods to prevent/reduce them. Polypharmacy regimens (five or more drugs) are highly prone to unacknowledged prescribing errors, since the complex network of drug-drug interactions, guidelines and contraindications is challenging to be adequately evaluated in the prescription phase, especially if different doctors are involved. Clinical decision support systems aimed at polypharmacy evaluation may be crucial to recognize and correct prescribing errors.

Mercury pollution poses a global health threat due to its high toxicity, especially in seafood where it accumulates through various pathways. Developing effective and affordable technologies for mercury removal from water is crucial. Adsorption stands out as a promising method, but creating low-cost materials with high selectivity and capacity for mercury adsorption is challenging.

2,2'-Bis(4-dimethylaminophenyl)- and 2,2'-dicyclohexyl-1,1',3,3'-tetramethyl-2,2',3,3'-tetrahydro-2,2'-bibenzo[]imidazole ((N-DMBI) and (Cyc-DMBI)) are quite strong reductants with effective potentials of ca. -2 V vs ferrocenium/ferrocene, yet are relatively stable to air due to the coupling of redox and bond-breaking processes. Here, we examine their use in accomplishing electron transfer-induced bond-cleavage reactions, specifically dehalogenations.

Improper drug prescription is a main cause of both drug-related harms (inefficacy and toxicity) and ineffective spending and waste of the healthcare system's resources. Nowadays, strategies to support an improved, informed prescription process may benefit from the adequate use of pharmacogenomic testing. Using next-generation sequencing, we analyzed the genomic profile for three major cytochromes P450 (CYP2C9, CYP2C19, CYP2D6) and studied the frequencies of dysfunctional isozymes (e.

Background: The objective of this study was to investigate the rs1800497, rs1799732, rs1801028, rs6280, and rs6314, rs7997012, and rs6311 single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) correlations with resistance to second-generation antipsychotics (SGAs) in a real-world sample of patients with treatment-resistant mental disorders.

Methods: We divided 129 participants into a high treatment resistance (HTR) group (current treatment with two SGAs, or clozapine, or classic neuroleptics for a failure of previous SGAs trials) and a low treatment resistance (LTR) group (current treatment with one atypical antipsychotic). We used Next-Generation Sequencing on DNA isolated from peripheral blood samples to analyze the polymorphisms.

Herein, we report a method to estimate the thermodynamic potentials of electrochemical reactions at different temperatures. We use a two-term Taylor series approximation of thermodynamic potential as a function of temperature, and we calculate the temperature sensitivity for a family of twenty seven known half reactions. We further analyze pairs of cathode and anode half-cells to pinpoint optimal voltage matches and discuss implications of changes in temperature on overall cell voltages.

Polydopamine is a biomimetic self-adherent polymer, which can be easily deposited on a wide variety of materials. Despite the rapidly increasing interest in polydopamine-based coatings, the polymerization mechanism and the key intermediate species formed during the deposition process are still controversial. Herein, we report a systematic investigation of polydopamine formation on halloysite nanotubes; the negative charge and high surface area of halloysite nanotubes favour the capture of intermediates that are involved in polydopamine formation and decelerate the kinetics of the process, to unravel the various polymerization steps.

The synthesis and design of two-dimensional supramolecular assemblies with specific functionalities is one of the principal goals of the emerging field of molecule-based electronics, which is relevant for many technological applications. Although a large number of molecular assemblies have been already investigated, engineering uniform and highly ordered two-dimensional molecular assemblies is still a challenge. Here we report on a novel approach to prepare wide highly crystalline molecular assemblies with tunable structural properties.

Deficiency of dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase (DPD), encoded by the DPYD gene, is associated with severe toxicity induced by the anti-cancer drug 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU). DPYD genotyping of four recommended polymorphisms is widely used to predict toxicity, yet their prediction power is limited. Increasing availability of next generation sequencing (NGS) will allow us to screen rare variants, predicting a larger fraction of DPD deficiencies.

Background: Despite the well-established worldwide phenomenon of "the feminisation of medicine," in Italy, Urology remains a male-dominated field.

Objective: The aims of our work are to assess data on medical students' choice of surgical specialty in Italy to investigate if a gender-biased trend exists and to find the key points that influence the decision-making process when choosing a specialty, with a focus on Urology.

Design: Data about access to residency programs in 2017-2020 were analysed through descriptive statistics.

The kinetics of postvaccination serum anti-Spike IgG concentration were determined in 1,541 health care workers (Sant'Andrea Hospital of Rome, Italy) with no prior infection by SARS-COV-2. Anti-Spike IgG were measured at 3, 12, and 24 weeks after the completion of the primary vaccine cycle (two doses of the BNT162b2 vaccine by Biontech/Pfizer) and 3 weeks apart a third BNT162b2 dose. Stratification of the study population by age (decades from 21-30 to 61-70) highlighted that 24 weeks after cycle completion all age groups had an order of magnitude reduction in serum IgG titers.

Lead halide perovskite nanocrystals are highly attractive for next-generation optoelectronics because they are easy to synthesize and offer great compositional and morphological tunability. However, the replacement of lead by tin for sustainability reasons is hampered by the unstable nature of Sn oxidation state and by an insufficient understanding of the chemical processes involved in the synthesis. Here, an optimized synthetic route is demonstrated to obtain stable, tunable, and monodisperse CsSnI nanocrystals, exhibiting well-defined excitonic peaks.

Treatment-resistant depression (TRD) reduces affected patients' quality of life and leads to important social health care costs. Pharmacogenomics-guided treatment (PGT) may be effective in the cure of TRD. The main aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical changes after PGT in patients with TRD (two or more recent failed psychopharmacological trials) affected by bipolar disorder (BD) or major depressive disorder (MDD) compared to a control group with treatment as usual (TAU).

This work reports initial results on the effect of low concentrations (ppm level) of a stabilizing agent (2,6-di--butyl-4-methylphenol, BHT) present in an off-the-shelf solvent on the catalyst performance for the hydrogenolysis of γ-butyrolactone over Cu-ZnO-based catalysts. Tetrahydrofuran (THF) was employed as an alternative solvent in the hydrogenolysis of γ-butyrolactone. It was found that the Cu-ZnO catalyst performance using a reference solvent (1,4-dioxane) was good, meaning that the equilibrium conversion was achieved in 240 min, while a zero conversion was found when employing tetrahydrofuran.
