Methods: The EYESHOT post-MI was a prospective, observational, nationwide study aimed to evaluate the management of patients presenting to cardiologists 1 to 3 years from the last MI event. In 3 months of enrolment, 165 Italian cardiology centers included 1633 consecutive post-MI patients.

Objective: Coronaviruses (CoVs) are a group of RNA viruses involved in several human diseases affecting respiratory, enteric, hepatic, and neurological systems. COVID-19 was identified in 2020 and was named SARS-CoV-2. To limit worldwide contagion, many countries instituted a lockdown, which conducted to disruption of routine life.

Researchers are encouraged to approach "greener" reagents, solvents, and methodologies, to go hand in hand with the world's environmental matter, such as water, soil, and air pollution. The employment of plant and animal derivates that are commonly regarded as "waste material" has paved the way for the development of new green strategies.

The aim of this study is to evaluate and compare the morphological and compositional characteristics of walnuts sampled from 'Sorrento' trees cultivated in different locations in Campania and trees of both the 'Chandler' and 'Sorrento' varieties derived from the same location. The results demonstrated that 'Sorrento' and 'Chandler' walnuts have different biometric characteristics and a different fat content, with the highest fat content being found in the 'Sorrento' variety.

Methods: In the present review, we summarize the existing literature focusing on the relationship between kidney dysfunction and acute coronary syndromes (ACS) in terms of risk factors, complications, and prognosis.
Graphene-enhanced Raman scattering (GERS) produces enhancement of the Raman signal, which is based on chemical rather than electromagnetic mechanism such as in the surface-enhanced Raman scattering. Graphene oxide, amino- and guanidine-functionalized graphene oxide, exfoliated graphene, and commercial graphene nanoplatelets have been used to investigate the GERS response with the change of graphene properties. Different graphene nanostructures have been embedded into organic-inorganic microporous films to build a platform for the fast and sensitive detection of pesticides in water.

Viral spike proteins, in fact, may promote the release of prothrombotic and inflammatory mediators. Vaccines, coding for the spike protein, are the primary means for preventing COVID-19.

The common histopathological hallmark in PD patients is the formation of intracellular proteinaceous accumulations. The main constituent of these inclusions is alpha-synuclein (α-syn), an intrinsically disordered protein that in pathological conditions creates amyloid aggregates that lead to neurotoxicity and neurodegeneration.

After percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), the antithrombotic therapy consists of a combination of anticoagulant and antiplatelet agents to reduce the ischemic and thromboembolic risk, at the cost of increased bleeding events. In the past few years, several randomized clinical trials involving over 12,000 patients have been conducted to compare the safety of vitamin K antagonist (VKA) and direct-acting oral anticoagulants (DOACs) in association with a single- or double-antiplatelet agent, in the so-called dual- (DAT) or triple-antithrombotic therapy (TAT).

Methods and Results We performed an interventional, prospective, multicenter, single-arm trial, powered for noninferiority with respect to an objective performance criterion to evaluate the safety of percutaneous coronary interventions with Synergy bioresorbable-polymer everolimus-eluting stent followed by 1-month dual antiplatelet therapy in patients with high bleeding risk. In case of need for an oral anticoagulant, patients received an oral anticoagulant in addition to a P2Y inhibitor for 1 month, followed by an oral anticoagulant only.

Among them, the presence of a 3-chloro-4-fluorophenyl moiety at the N-1 position of piperazine ring was essential for a potent tyrosinase inhibitory effect, with the 3-nitrocinnamoyl (19p) and 2-chloro-3-methoxycinnamoyl (19t) derivatives as the most potent compounds of the series, with IC of 0.16 and 0.

However, conclusive evidence regarding their reciprocal interaction and the consequent impact on clinical events is still lacking.
Objectives: We performed a metaanalysis with the aim to evaluate the prevalence of HPR in patients with and without CKD and the incidence of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) according to the renal and platelet function status in current literature (co-primary endpoints).
The objective of this critique is to demonstrate that the theory of "internal environment" (TIE) does not support the theory of "homeostasis" (TOH). We review and conclude that remains valid the concept of "internal environment", which corresponds anatomically to the extracellular fluid (ECF) that bathes tissue cells. The Claude Bernard's classification of "life", a corollary of the TIE under a strict "reactive" paradigm, we then interpret as a classification of how animals behave in response to environmental changes.

Methods: We analyze if the PARIS ischemic-hemorrhagic scale could be useful for the choice of antithrombotic strategy in patients with acute coronary syndromes and AF treated with coronary stenting enrolled in the prospective, observational, nationwide MATADOR-PCI study.
Results: Among the 588 patients discharged alive, a TAT was prescribed in 381 (64.

Multiple myeloma (MM) is characterized by the abnormal proliferation of clonal plasma cells (PCs) in bone marrow (BM). MM-PCs progressively occupy and likely alter BM niches where reside hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) whose viability, self-renewal, proliferation, commitment, and differentiation are essential for normal hematopoiesis. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are particles released by normal and neoplastic cells, such as MM cells.

The purpose of this mini review is to provide data about pre-clinical and clinical evidence exploring the impact of circadian desynchrony on spermatogenesis. Several lines of evidence exist demonstrating that disruption of circadian rhythms may interfere with male fertility. Experimental knock-out or knock-down of clock genes, physiologically involved in the regulation of circadian rhythms, are associated with impairments of fertility pathways in both animal and human models.

We focus on two-dimensional systems of "oriented" particles: Admissible configurations are represented by vectorial empirical measures with density in [Formula: see text]. We endow such configurations with a graph structure, where the bonds represent the "convenient" interactions between particles, and the proposed variational principle consists in maximizing their number.

Methods: Twenty-two patients with chronic rhinosinusitis treated with endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) were included in the study. Sino-nasal assessment questionnaire (SNAQ) investigating subjective evaluation of sino-nasal state was administered to patients, while objective evaluations included nasal endoscopy, sinonasal CT, skin prick tests, nasal cytology, spirometry, bronchodilator responsiveness testing and sputum eosinophil count.
Background: The outcome of patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) may vary substantially based on baseline risk. We aimed at analyzing the impact of gender, age and heart failure (HF) on mortality trends, based on a nationwide, comprehensive and universal administrative database of AMI.
Methods: This is a nationwide cohort study of patients admitted with AMI from 2009 to 2018 in all Italian hospitals.
We assessed the impact on periprocedural myocardial injury of a ticagrelor loading dose given <6 or >6 hours before percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) patients at high risk. All consecutive patients pretreated with ticagrelor and undergoing PCI for a high-risk NSTEMI have been included in the present analysis. Propensity-score matching was performed to compare the outcomes between patients pretreated with ticagrelor for >6 hours or ≤6 hours.
