Chaotic dynamics of semiconductor lasers under optical feedback are useful for random bit generation (RBG). By exploring on an ultra-long feedback loop, a single-mode laser in a route-to-chaos unveils an emission intensity with intermittent microwave bursts, for which a fast form of timing-based RBG is demonstrated. Each microwave burst corresponds to a packet of periodic intensity oscillations at the relaxation resonance.

Objective: The aims of this study were to evaluate the quality of osteoporosis guidelines on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) drug therapies and to analyze the specific recommendations of these guidelines.
Methods: We systematically collected guidelines, evaluated the quality of the guidelines using the (AGREE) II tool, and summarized the recommendations of TCM drug therapies using the Patient-Intervention-Comparator-Outcome (PICO) model as the analysis framework.
Results And Conclusions: A total of 20 guidelines were included.
This study explored the combined effects of Bacillus subtilis inoculation with biochar on the evolution of bacterial communities, antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs), and mobile genetic elements (MGEs) during the composting of chicken manure. The results showed that B. subtilis inoculation combined with biochar increased bacterial abundance and diversity as well as prolonged the compost thermophilic period.

The probe MITO-PQDNs could react rapidly (20 min) with GSH in PBS buffer and exhibited a strong fluorescence signal (586 nm) as well as a significant Stokes shift (200 nm). Methods: From March 2017 to August 2019, the residents aged 35-75 years old were selected using the multi-stage stratified cluster sampling method in 8 counties and districts of Anhui Province, and questionnaire survey, anthropometric measurement, and collection of biological samples were carried out among them.
Results: A total of 99,821 residents in Anhui Province were finally investigated, and among them 21,426 residents were detected to be high-risk groups of cardiovascular disease.
Period-one (P1) dynamics of two lasers under a common injection are perturbed for externally locked frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) generation. In this work, a facile, low-cost, and controllable liquid exfoliation method was applied to directly extract these collagen mesostructures from bovine Achilles tendons using a sodium hydroxide (NaOH)/urea aqueous system with freeze-thaw cycles and sonication. View Article and Find Full Text PDFAn analysis of the effect of ENSO events with different strengths on the isotopic composition of precipitation is conducted based on test data for 206 precipitation samples collected from January 2012 to February 2017 in Shanghai coupled with the archives for Nanjing, Wuhan, Fuzhou, and Hong Kong from 1961 to 2012 from the Global Network of Isotopes in Precipitation (GNIP) database. During the research periods, the δD and δO values in precipitation are lower in summer and autumn but higher in winter and spring. The slope and intercept of the atmospheric precipitation lines during El Niño events are larger than during other times, while anti-temperature, precipitation amount, and vapor pressure effects are more significant than during La Niña events.

In our previous studies of Elsholtzia haichowensis, vacuolar invertase (VIN) activity in roots of a Cu-tolerant population was found to be significantly higher than that of a non-tolerant population under Cu stress. Divergences of amino acid residues in a sucrose-binding box and other regions of the VINs were detected.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFIn the current study, we hypothesize that mine (metallicolous) populations of metallophytes form a trade-off between the roots and shoots when under copper (Cu) stress to adapt themselves to heavy metal contaminated habitats, and thus, differ from normal (non-metallicolous) populations in biomass allocation. To test the hypothesis, two populations of the metallophyte Kummerowia stipulacea, one from an ancient Cu mine (MP) and the other from a non-contaminated site (NMP), were treated with Cu(2+) in hydroponic conditions. The results showed that MP plants had higher root/shoot biomass allocation and more complicated root system architecture compared to those of the NMP plants when under Cu stress.
