Recent research found artesunate could inhibit ocular fibrosis; however, the underlying mechanisms are not fully known. Programmed cell death (PCD) is a process that eliminates infected, damaged, or possibly neoplastic cells to sustain homeostatic multicellular organisms. Although long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are involved in various types of PCD and regulate tumor growth, invasion, and migration, the role of PCD-related lncRNAs in bladder cancer still lacks systematic exploration. Coughing is a respiratory behavior that plays a crucial role in protecting the respiratory system. Here we show that the nucleus of the solitary tract (NTS) in mice contains heterogenous neuronal populations that differentially control breathing. Within these subtypes, activation of tachykinin 1 (Tac1)-expressing neurons triggers specific respiratory behaviors that, as revealed by our detailed characterization, are cough-like behaviors.

Artesunate, a derivative from extracts of Artemisia annua, has recently been reported to alleviate fibrosis recently. Here, in this study, we sought to determine the anti-fibrosis effect of artesunate in rabbit glaucoma filtration surgery (GFS) model and illuminate underlying mechanisms. Glaucoma, one of the most common ocular neurodegenerative diseases worldwide, is characterized by retinal ganglion cell (RGC) loss.
