Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a highly invasive cancer with a poor prognosis and a 5-year survival rate of less than 11%. As a member of the CAP superfamily of proteins, the role of peptidase inhibitor 16 (Pi16) in tumor progression is still unclear. Immunohistochemistry and quantitative RT-PCR methods were used to detect the expression levels of Pi16 protein and mRNA in PDAC patients.

Article Synopsis
  • Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) is used during transvenous lead extraction (TLE) procedures, but its specific role and benefits need further clarification.
  • A study reviewed 195 high-risk patients who underwent TLE, comparing outcomes between those monitored with TEE and those without, finding no significant differences in success rates or complications.
  • Although TEE didn't change procedural success or complication rates, it helped in planning surgeries, guiding treatments, and diagnosing issues quickly, thereby enhancing patient safety.

Background/purpose: Rats display behavioral signs of neuropathic pain lasting for months in the chronic constriction injury (CCI) model. During intrathecal anesthesia, the administered drugs mainly diffuse directly into the superficial neurons in the spinal dorsal horn. This study aimed to investigate the effect of bath application of norepinephrine on whole cell patch clamp recordings from spinal cord slices of CCI rats with allodynia.
