Pathological cardiac hypertrophy is the primary cause of heart failure, yet its underlying mechanisms remain incompletely understood. Transmembrane protein 100 (TMEM100) plays a role in various disorders, such as nervous system disease, pain and tumorigenesis, but its function in pathological cardiac hypertrophy is still unknown. In this study, we observed that TMEM100 is upregulated in cardiac hypertrophy.

Using the Google earth engine(GEE) to establish a remote sensing ecological index (RSEI), the spatio-temporal changes in the ecological environment quality of the Huaihe River Basin from 2002 to 2022 were evaluated combined with trend analysis, variation coefficient, and Hurst index. The main driving factors of spatial differentiation of RSEI were explored using the geographic detector.

Research indicates that early intervention for pain can reduce the occurrence or severity of PHN. This study aims to develop a predictive model and scoring table to identify patients at risk of developing PHN following acute herpetic neuralgia, facilitating informed clinical decision-making.

Method: This retrospective and observational study was carried out from January 2021 to January 2023 at The First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University. Patients diagnosed with plaque psoriasis and a control group consisting of individuals undergoing routine physical examinations were enrolled.
Objectives: Infection is one of the major causes of morbidity and mortality in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and as a new diagnostic technique, metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) is increasingly used for the pathogenetic detection of co-infected SLE patients. However, conventional microbiological testing (CMT) is still the gold standard for pathogenic diagnosis, and the specific diagnostic efficacy of mNGS versus CMT in such patients is not known. In addition, there are few studies on the short-term prognosis of co-infected SLE patients.

The aim of our study was to investigate the factors influencing the long-term prognosis of patients with VSR from different aspects, comparing the evaluation performance of the Gensini score, Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score and European Heart Surgery Risk Assessment System II (EuroSCORE II) score systems.
Methods: This study retrospectively enrolled 188 patients with VSR between Dec 9, 2011 and Nov 21, 2021at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University.

To explore the effects of future climate change on food production in Henan Province, the climate potential productivity and its change characteristics in Henan Province were calculated by agro-ecological zone (AEZ) model. This study was based on the production potential and climate resource carrying capacity of summer maize and winter wheat, combined with the observation data of 111 meteorological stations in Henan Province from 1961 to 2017 and the meteorological data under two emission scenarios of RCP4.5 and RCP8.

Objective: In cases of ICAS, we observe a phenomenon that we call the "post-stent-deployment effect"; that is, all major branches are clearly visible beyond the occlusion segment when the stent is deployed at the site of occlusion. Our objective is to evaluates whether this post-stent-deployment effect can be used to differentiate ICAS from embolism in the distal M1 segment occlusion.
Background: A common-stem origin of lenticulostriate arteries (CS-LSAs) is an anatomical variation that supplies a moderate to large section of the basal ganglia. We hypothesized that CS-LSAs with a patent orifice are located at distal positions of the acute-occluded middle cerebral artery (MCA) and that the blood flow of CS-LSAs is supplied by pail arterial anastomoses and results in hypoperfusion of CS-LSAs, similar to a deep watershed (DWS) infarction.
Objective: Our study evaluated the possibility of CS-LSAs in patients with DWS infarction and MCA occlusion and also assessed the safety of endovascular therapy (ET) in these patients.

Objective: To extract two kinds of phenols 4-hydroxy-3, 5-dimethoxy-4-(2-oxopropyl) cyclohexa-2, 5-dien-l-one and 6-methoxy-5,7-dihydroxy coumarin (named as I and H compounds respectively) from Ajania salicifolia and to investigate their antioxidation and cytotoxicity to tumors and explore their pro-apoptosis mechanism.
Methods: The antioxidant activities of two compounds were assessed by ABTS and DPPH radical-scavenging assays. Two compounds were evaluated for their cytotoxicity against human chronic myelogenous leukemia (K562) cells using the MIT assay.

We evaluated survival motor neuron 2 (SMN2) and neuronal apoptosis inhibitory protein (NAIP) gene copy distribution and the association of copy number with survival in 232 Chinese spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) patients. The SMN2 and NAIP copy numbers correlated positively with the median onset age (r = 0.72 and 0.

Studies to assess the lead exposure among children in China are small in sample size and lack of national representative data. The aim of this study therefore was to describe blood lead levels and identify risk factors for lead exposure among children aged 0 to 6 years living in 16 cities in China.

However, sudden unexplained death (SUD) is different from sudden death, as there is no clinical evidence to support the sudden death due to the original underlying disease, nor a lethal pathological basis to be found during autopsy. In addition, SUD are more common in young, previously healthy individuals, usually without any signs of disease, with no positive lesions found after autopsy.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: In recent years, the incidence of unexplained sudden death has risen significantly across the world. However, it occurred suddenly, often in young apparently healthy individuals and almost 50% of the patients did not have any warning signals or symptoms. Therefore, the prodromal symptoms before the incident are extremely important for early prediction of sudden death.

The amount of food intake and gastrointestinal mobility are closely related. In this study, an attempt has been made to investigate the effects and mechanisms of C75 on gastric emptying and gastrointestinal transit after intracerebroventricular (i.

The results indicated that there was an increasing trend in the annual direct N2O emission, due to the increasing input of chemical fertilizer N. The mean annual emission in 1990s was estimated to be 204 Gg N2O-N, ranging from 159 to 269 Gg N2O-N, and the lowest and the highest emission occurred in 1992 and 1998, respectively.
