Electrocatalytic nitrogen reduction reaction (NRR) is a very attractive strategy for ammonia synthesis due to its energy savings and sustainability. However, the ammonia yield and Faraday efficiency of electrocatalytic nitrogen reduction have been challenges due to low nitrogen solubility and competitive hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in electrolyte solution. Herein, inspired by the asymmetric wetting behavior, i.

As a green method, enzyme crosslinking can catalyze chitosan (CS) to improve further the structural, interfacial, and functional properties of Inca peanut albumin (IPA)-polyphenols. However, the structural impact of laccase-catalyzed CS on different IPA-polyphenol conjugates has not been reported. Results revealed that enzymatic cross-linking of IPA-gallic acid (GA) and IPA- (-)-epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) with CS resulted in a decrease in α-helices, an increase in β-helices, and a more ordered structure.

Janus transition metal disulfide (TMD) monolayers have two distinct carbon surfaces that break the inherent ground external mirror symmetry. When compared to traditional TMD materials, Janus TMDs not only inherit the advantages of traditional TMDs but also have new characteristics that are different from those of traditional TMDs. This paper describes the development of a stable passive Q-switched ytterbium-doped fiber laser (YDFL) with operating wavelengths of 1032.

In this work, the effects of different sintering temperatures and TiO concentrations on the dielectric properties of ZrO and NbO pre-doped CaCuTiO (CCTO) ceramics were investigated. These doped ceramics were sintered at temperatures of 1020, 1030, and 1040 °C, exhibiting the lowest dielectric loss of 0.01, which consistently remained below 0.

Achieving deep-blue light with high color saturation remains a critical challenge in the development of white light-emitting diode (LED) technology, necessitating luminescent materials that excel in efficiency, low toxicity, and stability. Here, we report the synthesis of [N(CH)]CuI (TEACuI) single crystals (SCs), which exhibit deep-blue photoluminescence (PL) at 450 nm. These crystals are characterized by a significant Stokes shift of 180 nm, a long lifetime of 1.

Cancer treatments, including cytotoxic therapy, often result in male infertility, necessitating the development of safe and effective strategies to preserve male reproductive potential during chemotherapy. Notably, our study uncovers the potential of repurposing riluzole, an FDA-approved drug for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), in enhancing spermatogenesis. Hence, this research aims to explore the feasibility of utilizing riluzole to alleviate male infertility induced by busulfan (BSF), a commonly used chemotherapy drug.

Aberrant activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome contributes to the evolution of diverse inflammatory diseases. Inhibition of the NLRP3 inflammasome has been proven to be an effective treatment strategy for NLRP3-driven diseases. This study revealed that multiple natural diterpenes from Isodon plants can inhibit the NLRP3 inflammasome, among which Rosthornin B (Ros B) exhibited the best inhibitory effect, with an IC of 0.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates the roles of specific histone H2B variants in the plant Arabidopsis thaliana, focusing on how these variants influence chromatin localization and gene regulation, which are key to understanding epigenetic mechanisms in plants.
  • - Four short N-terminal H2B variants (snH2Bs) were identified, and their genomic distribution, impact on plant growth, and regulatory functions were analyzed using advanced techniques like ChIP-seq combined with CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing.
  • - Results show that these snH2B variants are mainly expressed in reproductive tissues and play significant roles in gene expression and the transition from vegetative to reproductive stages in plants, highlighting their importance in chromatin regulation.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the role of ferroptosis, a type of cell death, in liver damage during sepsis, an illness caused by infection.
  • Researchers used cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) to induce sepsis in mice and then analyzed liver tissue for changes, including levels of specific enzymes and oxidative stress markers.
  • Results showed that inhibiting ferroptosis can reduce liver injury in septic mice, and knocking down lipocalin-2 (LCN2) helps protect against this damage by lowering oxidative stress.

Formalin-fixed tissues possess irreplaceable value as a source of DNA for identification, especially when fresh samples are unavailable. Nonetheless, extracting and amplifying DNA from these tissues is challenging, primarily due to formaldehyde-induced cross-linking and nucleic acid fragmentation. In this study, two pre-extraction treatments, gradual dehydration using ethanol and pre-digestion heat treatments, and three DNA extraction methods, the Chelex-100 method, TIANamp FFPE DNA Kit, and ML Ultra-micro DNA extraction kit, were utilized to optimize DNA extraction from different tissues, which were fixed in 4% unbuffered formalin for different durations.

Dense hydrous magnesium silicate MgSiO_{4}H_{2} is widely regarded as a primary water carrier into the deep Earth. However, the stability fields of MgSiO_{4}H_{2} based on the prevailing structure model are narrower than experimental results at relevant pressure and temperature (P-T) conditions, casting doubts about this prominent mineral as a water carrier into the great depths of the Earth. Here, we report on an advanced structure search that identifies two new crystal structures, denoted as α- and β-MgSiO_{4}H_{2}, that are stable over unprecedentedly wide P-T conditions of 17-68 GPa and up to 1860 K, covering the entire experimentally determined range.
