Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluated the impact of cardiac rehabilitation guided by cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) on patients with Grade 1 hypertension undergoing standard antihypertensive treatment.
  • Participants were divided into a CPET group and a conventional treatment group, with results measured over 12 weeks.
  • The CPET group showed significantly lower blood pressure, better cardiorespiratory endurance, and improved lipid profiles compared to the conventional group, indicating that CPET could enhance hypertension management alongside medication.

Aging and age-related cognitive impairment have emerged as a growing global public health concern and remain no effective preventive strategies. Excessive oxidative stress and neuroinflammation have been proven to contribute to cognitive decline. Vitamin D maintains the redox balance and exerts immunomodulatory effects, but the specific role of vitamin D in aging and age-related cognitive impairment remains elusive.

Cervical carcinoma poses a significant health threat, with traditional treatments proving inadequate in advanced stages. Curcumin, a bioactive compound derived from turmeric, exhibits notable anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antineoplastic properties, potentially modulating autophagy, and metastasis in cancer cells. This study examines curcumin's impact on autophagy and metastasis in cervical carcinoma, focusing on its interaction with autophagy-related gene 3 (ATG3).

Article Synopsis
  • The cultivation of certain plants is being threatened by wilt disease, which is impacting large-scale production.
  • Researchers analyzed microbial communities in diseased plants, screening both harmful and beneficial strains to understand the disease better and find prevention methods.
  • They discovered several pathogenic strains causing severe wilt and identified antagonistic strains that can help alleviate the disease, suggesting that combining specific microbes may effectively control the wilt disease in related plants.

Objective: Previous studies have shown an association between Internet access and cognitive function, and have also found that loneliness is a precursor to cognitive impairment. However, little is known about the bidirectional relationship between Internet access and cognitive function, and the potential mechanisms that underlie these three variables. This study examined the reciprocal relationship between Internet access and cognitive function, as well as the mediating role of loneliness among middle-aged and older Chinese adults.

Objective: To explore the effect of Peplau's interpersonal relationship theory (PIRT) combined with case management (CM) on exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation (EBCR), self-efficacy of rehabilitation and risk factors in patients after primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).

Methods: The convenience sampling method was used to select patients who were admitted to the Department of Cardiology in our hospital from January to October 2022 and received PCI for the first time. Patients were divided into a control group and an intervention group.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates how deep tunnel excavation affects surrounding rock stability by using a physical simulation to replicate real excavation processes, focusing on stress changes.
  • - Results show that in elasto-plastic tests, the principal stress axes are symmetrical about the XZ plane, while in elastic tests, they are symmetrical about the origin, and consistent findings were observed at key monitoring points.
  • - The research, using FLAC3D, identified seven distinct regions of surrounding rock, each dominated by particular stress patterns, demonstrating that stress evolution remained consistent in both elastic and elasto-plastic conditions.

4D printing technology refers to the manufacturing of products using 3D printing techniques that are capable of changing shape or structure in response to external stimuli. Compared with traditional 3D printing, the additional dimension is manifested in the time dimension. Facilitated by the advancement of magnetic smart materials and 3D printing technology, magnetically controlled 4D printing technology has a wide range of application prospects in many fields such as medical treatment, electronic flexible devices, and industrial manufacturing.

The increasing mortality rate of pancreatic cancer globally necessitates the urgent identification for novel therapeutic targets. This study investigated the expression, functions, and mechanistic insight of G protein inhibitory subunit 3 (Gαi3) in pancreatic cancer. Bioinformatics analyses reveal that Gαi3 is overexpressed in human pancreatic cancer, correlating with poor prognosis, higher tumor grade, and advanced classification.

Purpose: Inflammatory response plays essential roles in the pathophysiology of both ischemic stroke and atrial fibrillation (AF). We aimed to investigate whether composite inflammatory markers, including neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR), lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR) and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), can serve as early predictors of short- and long-term outcomes in ischemic stroke patients with AF.

Patients And Methods: Ischemic stroke patients with AF were enrolled in this cohort study.

Osteoporosis is a systemic skeletal disease characterized by low bone density and microarchitectural deterioration, resulting in increased fracture risk. With an aging population, osteoporosis imposes a heavy burden worldwide. Current pharmacotherapies such as bisphosphonates can reduce fracture risk but have limitations.

High mobility group protein B1 (HMGB1) acts as a pathogenic inflammatory response to mediate ranges of conditions such as epilepsy, septic shock, ischemia, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease and mass spectrometry. HMGB1 promotes inflammation during sterile and infectious damage and plays a crucial role in disease development. Mobilization from the nucleus to the cytoplasm is the first important step in the release of HMGB1 from activated immune cells.

NAD-dependent deacetylase Sirt2 is involved in mammalian metabolic activities, matching energy demand with energy production and expenditure, and is relevant to a variety of metabolic diseases. Here, we constructed Sirt2 knockout and adeno-associated virus overexpression mice and found that deletion of hepatic Sirt2 accelerated primary obesity and insulin resistance in mice with concomitant hepatic metabolic dysfunction. However, the key targets of Sirt2 are unknown.

Background: Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) is an important cause of female infertility and seriously impacts the physical and psychological health of patients. Human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes (HucMSCs-Exs, H-Exs) have exhibited protective effects on ovarian function with unclear mechanisms.

Methods: A comprehensive analysis of the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database were used to identify POI-associated circRNAs and miRNAs.

tRNA-derived fragments (tRFs) are novel small noncoding RNAs (sncRNAs) that range from approximately 14 to 50 nt. They are generated by the cleavage of mature tRNAs or precursor tRNAs (pre-tRNAs) at specific sites. Based on their origin and length, tRFs can be classified into three categories: (1) tRF-1 s; (2) tRF-3 s, tRF-5 s, and internal tRFs (i-tRFs); and (3) tRNA halves.

Introduction: To evaluate the diagnostic efficiency among the clinical model, the radiomics model and the nomogram that combined radiomics features, frozen section (FS) analysis and clinical characteristics for the prediction of lymph node (LN) metastasis in patients with papillary thyroid cancer (PTC).

Methods: A total of 208 patients were randomly divided into two groups randomly with a proportion of 7:3 for the training groups (n = 146) and the validation groups (n = 62). The Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO) regression was used for the selection of radiomics features extracted from ultrasound (US) images.
