Amborella trichopoda, the sole species of a lineage that is sister to all other extant flowering plants, is dioecious with a young ZW sex determination system. Here we present a haplotype-resolved genome assembly, including highly contiguous assemblies of the Z and W chromosomes.

Objective: We aimed to evaluate and compare the functional characteristics, safety profile and effectiveness of two commonly used ureteral access sheaths (UAS) during flexible ureteroscopy.

Methods: After institutional review board approval, patients with proximal ureteral or kidney stones requiring flexible ureteroscopy and UAS were prospectively randomized to group I or group II according to the type of access sheath used. Safety and efficacy of sequential balloon dilation prior to ureteral access sheath insertion in nonstented patients undergoing ureteroscopy.

Techniques such as ureteral access sheath placement and balloon dilation are utilized to facilitate ureteroscopy. A retrospective review was performed to evaluate the efficacy and complications from ureteral access sheath (UAS) placement with or without sequential ureteral balloon dilation (SBD) in non-prestented patients who underwent ureteroscopy with UAS with or without SBD for renal or proximal ureteral stones from February 2014 to April 2017. This was a two-surgeon series of 124 patients divided into groups of SBD + UAS or direct UAS placement.

Many factors shape the genetic diversity of island-endemic trees, with important implications for conservation. Oceanic island-endemic lineages undergo an initial founding bottleneck during the colonization process and subsequently accumulate diversity following colonization. Moreover, many island endemics occur in small populations and are further threatened by anthropogenic factors that cause population declines, making them susceptible to losses in genetic diversity through genetic drift, inbreeding, and bottlenecks.

New Caledonia was, until recently, considered an old continental island harbouring a rich biota with outstanding Gondwanan relicts. However, deep marine sedimentation and tectonic evidence suggest complete submergence of the island during the latest Cretaceous to the Paleocene. Molecular phylogenies provide evidence for some deeply-diverging clades that may predate the Eocene and abundant post-Oligocene colonisation events.

A Rare Presentation of Parvovirus Induced Pure Red Cell Aplasia in Elderly Male With Inclusion Body Myositis.

Pure red cell aplasia (PRCA) is a rare condition leading to erythroid bone marrow failure. Parvovirus is one of the rare causes of PRCA in older adults. We present a 73-year-old man on high dose prednisone who presented with rapid functional decline and shortness of breath and was found to have normocytic normochromic anemia with low reticulocyte counts.

A common pattern observed in temperate tree clades is that species are often morphologically distinct and partially interfertile but maintain species cohesion despite ongoing hybridization where ranges overlap. Although closely related species commonly occur in sympatry in tropical ecosystems, little is known about patterns of hybridization within a clade over time, and the implications of this hybridization for the maintenance of species boundaries. In this study, we focused on a clade of sympatric trees in the genus Diospyros in the Mascarene islands and investigated whether species are genetically distinct, whether they hybridize, and how patterns of hybridization are related to the time since divergence among species.

The unauthorized use of personal information belonging to users of apps integrated with the Facebook platform affects millions of users. Crucially, although privacy concerns and awareness have increased, the use of these apps, and related privacy behaviors, remain largely unchanged. Given that such privacy behaviors are likely influenced by individuals' personality traits, it is imperative to better understand which personality traits make individuals more vulnerable to such unauthorized uses.

Communication via a social network function enabled by social media has greatly empowered consumers' secondary crisis communication, as compared to a firm's crisis communication, and has thus changed corporate crisis management. This study aims to uncover consumers' decision process of engaging in secondary crisis communication in a social media context. Drawing on the social control perspective and impression management theory, this study examines the role of perceived morality violations and consumers' susceptibility to social influence in shaping consumers' secondary crisis communication in corporate crises.

Never in history have global supply-chain relationships in high-tech electronics firms been more sophisticated, complicated, and almost always tied in some major aspect to China. This research examines how interorganizational (IO) cooperation impacts performance and what role relationship learning and information technology (IT) integration play in the value-creation process for Chinese suppliers in business-to-business (B2B) supply chains. We examine this issue using data collected from face-to-face interviews with supply chain managers and executives from 1,004 Chinese high-tech electronic component suppliers.

Prophylactic ureteral catheter placement for minimally invasive colorectal surgery.

Ureteral catheter placement for identification of ureters during colorectal surgery has been a controversial subject with ill-defined indications. We present a case of ureteral catheter placement wherein the patient required readmission for renal failure with intervention under local anesthesia. This case highlights the importance of patient selection for catheter placement and clinical follow-up, as well as the need for prospective studies to determine the risk-benefit ratio of preoperative catheters.
