Purpose: To assess the effects of bladder fullness and lower uterine contractions ultrasound on transabdominal and transvaginal cervical length measurements at the mid-trimester fetal anomaly scan (FAS).
Methods: Transabdominal and transvaginal cervical length measurements from 925 mid-trimester FAS examinations were retrospectively analysed. Images were assessed for lower uterine contraction and bladder fullness using a novel qualitative assessment.
Purpose: The O-RADS malignancy risk stratification of typical ovarian dermoid cysts by using a 10 cm threshold is based on expert consensus rather than analysis of objective clinical data. This comprehensive scoping review consolidated all currently available studies evaluating typical benign ovarian dermoid cyst size and risk for malignant transformation.
Methods: A systematic review of MEDLINE, Embase, Scopus and the Cochrane library was performed from inception to January 14, 2024, using PRISMA-ScR guidelines.

Inferior vena cava (IVC) leiomyosarcomas are rare smooth muscle neoplasms that account for 0.5% of adult soft tissue sarcomas. They present with nonspecific symptoms and have poor prognosis.

End-tidal carbon dioxide (EtCO) has been proposed as a real-time measure for this purpose. This study aimed to systematically review literature on EtCO measurement in assessing the severity of acute asthma exacerbations.

This systematic review and meta-analysis aims to re-evaluate the optimal endometrial thickness threshold on imaging for excluding cancer in symptomatic postmenopausal patients.
Materials And Methods: A systematic search of MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, and Scopus from inception to October 2023 was performed in addition to a gray literature search.
To review the findings of a multiparametric MRI (the "liver triple screen") solution for the non-invasive assessment of liver fat, iron, and fibrosis in patients with chronic liver disease (CLD). A retrospective evaluation of all consecutive triple screen MRI cases was performed at our institution over the last 32 months. Relevant clinical, laboratory, and radiologic data were analyzed using descriptive statistics.

Our studied sample consisted of 606 Canadians aged 60 and above who took part in an e-survey across all 10 of Canada's provinces, launched in July 2022, when social distancing was lifted across the country. Participants completed a personal characteristics questionnaire, the Geriatric Anxiety Scale or GAS-10, and a checklist of everyday coping strategies for mitigating anxiety.

Many countries are experiencing a post-pandemic surge in hospital utilization along with accelerating population aging. Maximal hospital efficiency is required, with utilization evidence essential for identifying appropriate hospital or broader health system reforms. We offer an investigation of the most recent pre-COVID year (2019-2020) of complete population-based hospital utilization data to describe and compare the use of hospitals by older (65+) and younger (0-64) people admitted for inpatient services in Canada.

Since it was first described, very few cases have been reported in literature. We present a case of a 37-year-old female with typical symptoms and common right-side involvement.

We investigated the contribution of excess adiposity, a key determinant of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular risk, to unfavourable cardiometabolic profiles among Asian ethnic subgroups.
Methods: The Health for Life in Singapore (HELIOS) Study is a population-based cohort comprising multiethnic Asian men and women living in Singapore, aged 30-84 years.
There is considerable evidence for mitochondrial-nuclear co-adaptation as a key evolutionary driver. Hypotheses regarding the roles of sex-linkage have emphasized Z-linked nuclear genes with mitochondrial function (N-mt genes), whereas it remains contentious whether the perfect co-inheritance of W genes with mitogenomes could hinder or facilitate co-adaptation. Young (neo-) sex chromosomes that possess relatively many N-mt genes compared to older chromosomes provide unprecedented hypothesis-testing opportunities.

Objectives: From a cross-cultural perspective, aging well may encompass pertinent challenges in terms of adjustment, sexual well-being, and satisfaction with life in the late years. Considering the paucity of empirical data concerning cultural diversity of experiencing aging, this study aims to help fill this gap by assessing the specific patterns of sexual satisfaction, adjustment to aging (AtA), and life satisfaction with life (SwL) of older adults in Portugal and Spain.
Methods: This cross-national study included 326 older adults, age 65 and older, from Portugal and Spain.
Introduction: Currently, no reporting guidelines exist for observational and qualitative study protocols. In an effort to enhance the quality of research protocols, we introduce two study protocol reporting checklists that we have developed.
Main Recommendations: These checklists include educational components and examples intended to assist novice researchers.
Background: Sonothrombolysis is a therapeutic application of ultrasound with ultrasound contrast for patients with ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Recent trials demonstrated that sonothrombolysis, delivered before and after primary percutaneous coronary intervention (pPCI), increases infarct vessel patency, improves microvascular flow, reduces infarct size, and improves ejection fraction. However, it is unclear whether pre-pPCI sonothrombolysis is essential for therapeutic benefit.

In northern regions where fish are a critical subsistence food, understanding and predicting fish [Hg] can be particularly difficult, largely due to a paucity of comprehensive data associated with the logistical challenges of field sampling. Building on previous work where we elucidated causal relationships between fish [Hg] and a variety of catchment, water quality, and ecological variables in subarctic lakes, we investigated whether using only ratios of catchment area to lake area (CA:LA) can predict [Hg] in northern freshwater fish species.

Methods: A set of 4,522 computed tomography (CT) reports of 550 patients with 14 types of cancer was used to fine-tune four clinical large language models (LLMs) for multilabel classification of metastatic sites. We also developed an NLP information extraction (IE) system (on the basis of named entity recognition, assertion status detection, and relation extraction) for comparison.
Vascular compression syndromes are a diverse group of pathologies that can manifest asymptomatically and incidentally in otherwise healthy individuals or symptomatically with a spectrum of presentations. Due to their relative rarity, these syndromes are often poorly understood and overlooked. Early identification of these syndromes can have a significant impact on subsequent clinical management.

Purpose: Accurate staging of ovarian cancer is critical to guide optimal management pathways. North American guidelines recommend contrast-enhanced CT as the primary work-up for staging ovarian cancer. This meta-analysis aims to compare the diagnostic accuracy of contrast-enhanced CT alone to PET/CT for detecting abdominal metastases in patients with a new or suspected diagnosis of ovarian cancer.
