Objectives: To synthesize evidence from fruit and vegetable intervention studies investigating mental or cognitive health outcomes (or both) in children ≤10 y. Our aim was to understand the efficacy of such interventions in improving measures of cognitive performance or mental health and to identify successful intervention elements to inform future research.
Methods: We conducted a systematic search of the Cochrane, Embase, PubMed, and CINAHL databases for articles published before August 2022 (PROSPERO registration no.
Background And Aims: Rates of psychosis in the homeless population are markedly higher compared to the general population. Understanding potential psychological mechanisms underpinning links between psychosis and homelessness is important for the development of effective care pathways for this highly marginalised group. This study aimed to examine the housing status of a sample of people with psychosis admitted to psychiatric inpatient hospital in one UK mental health trust.

Methods: Four trials' Kaplan-Meier curves were digitized over several datacuts and fitted with standard parametric curves. Accuracy and consistency of early data projections were calculated versus observed restricted mean survival time and fitted lifetime survival from the longest follow-up datacut.
Background: The introduction of complementary foods during the first year of life influences the diversity of the gut microbiome. How this diversity affects immune development and health is unclear.
Objective: This study evaluates the effect of consuming kūmara or kūmara with added banana powder (resistant starch) compared to a reference control at 4 months post randomization on the prevalence of respiratory tract infections and the development of the gut microbiome.
Food neophobia (FN) reduces nutritional adequacy and variety which poses a significant concern for children's health and well-being We described the FN scores among 8-year-olds and examined its associations with nutrition-related behaviors at 45 months within the Growing Up in New Zealand cohort (n = 4621). FN was estimated using the Food Neophobia Scale (FNS). Mean FNS scores between variable categories were compared using t-tests for independent samples and ANOVA.

Due to its high symptom burden, it is recommended that palliative care be integrated into the standard care to help improve quality of life. However, little is known about the use of palliative care among MBC patients in the nation.

Using an intervention mapping framework, this paper describes the iterative development of and findings from initial feasibility testing. Ten youth participated in completing pre-intervention demographic questionnaires and semi-structured exit interviews to understand participants' experience and gather feedback.

Methodology: This retrospective cohort study included 1466 teeth in 1252 personnel who received root canal (re)treatment between 2015 and 2020. General Dental Practitioners treated 661 teeth (573 patients) (Routine cohort), whilst Dentists with a Special Interest treated 805 teeth (678 patients) (Referred cohort).
Background: Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) is the most common paediatric malignancy in the world. Advances in treatment protocols have resulted in survival rates of >80% in most high-income countries (HIC); however, children and young people (CYP) with ALL continue to face significant nutrition-related challenges during treatment.
Methods: This narrative review outlines the changing landscape of treatment and survivorship for CYP with ALL and the advances in nutrition knowledge that call for changes to clinical nutrition practice.
Given the importance of diet in early life, assessing children's diet is crucial to guide interventions. Using data from a nationally generalizable New Zealand (NZ) birth cohort we examined children's dietary patterns at 9- (n = 6259), 24- (n = 6292), and 54-months (n = 6131), and their association with maternal sociodemographic and health behaviours. At each time-point, children's dietary patterns were identified using principal components analysis.

Surprisingly, the strong asymmetry dependence of these strengths and their extreme values for highly asymmetric nuclei inferred from knockout reaction measurements on a target nucleus are not consistent with what is extracted from electron-induced, transfer, and quasi-free reaction data, constituting a two-decade old puzzle. This work presents the first consistent analysis of one-nucleon transfer and one-nucleon knockout data, in which theoretical uncertainties associated with the nucleon-nucleus effective interactions considered in the reaction models are quantified using a Bayesian analysis.

Methods: A national survey of the two specialist treatment centers and 14 shared care centers that provide care to childhood cancer patients in Aotearoa, New Zealand, was conducted.
Results: The two specialist treatment centers in Aotearoa, New Zealand, were the only centers with a dedicated dietetic oncology full-time equivalent resource; this full-time equivalent resource was devoted to inpatient care.
There is increasing evidence that adherence to a Mediterranean dietary pattern reduces the incidence of diet-related diseases. To date, the habitual dietary intake of New Zealand (NZ) adults has not been examined in relation to its alignment with a Mediterranean-style dietary pattern. This study aimed to define the habitual dietary patterns, nutrient intakes, and adherence to the Mediterranean Diet in a sample of 1012 NZ adults (86% female, mean age 48 ± 16 years) who had their diabetes risk defined by the Australian Type 2 Diabetes Risk Assessment Tool (AUSDRISK).

We analyzed the incidence of major bleeding in 64 patient exposures that received ibrutinib with concomitant therapeutic anticoagulation. Major bleeding was observed in 5/64 (8%) patient exposures.

Introduction: The BCL2 inhibitor venetoclax has dramatically changed the treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and has introduced the concept of time-limited therapy with targeted agents.
Areas Covered: This review discusses the mechanism of action of venetoclax, adverse effects, and the clinical data with this agent as identified by a selective search of clinical trials in the PubMed database. Venetoclax is FDA-approved with anti-CD20 monoclonal antibodies; however, research is ongoing evaluating its efficacy when given in combination with other agents, such as the Bruton's Tyrosine Kinase (BTK) inhibitors.
Purpose: This study aimed to understand the experience of families caring for a child with cancer in New Zealand (NZ) who received nutrition and dietetic support during cancer treatment and their preferences for the delivery, format, and timing of nutrition information.
Methods: Childhood cancer patients and their families (N = 21) participated in a mixed-methods study at a specialist paediatric oncology centre in Auckland, NZ. Before the semi-structured interview, participants completed a questionnaire capturing demographic, disease, and treatment characteristics of their child, their nutrition concerns, and their information needs.
Aims: Mental disorders characterized by preoccupation with distressing bodily symptoms and associated functional impairment have been a target of major reconceptualization in the ICD-11, in which a single category of Bodily Distress Disorder (BDD) with different levels of severity replaces most of the Somatoform Disorders in ICD-10. This study compared the accuracy of clinicians' diagnosis of disorders of somatic symptoms using either the ICD-11 or ICD-10 diagnostic guidelines in an online study.
Methods: Clinically active members of the World Health Organization's Global Clinical Practice Network (N = 1065) participating in English, Spanish, or Japanese were randomly assigned to apply ICD-11 or ICD-10 diagnostic guidelines to one of nine pairs of standardized case vignettes.
Aim: Nutrition challenges are common during childhood cancer treatment and can persist into survivorship, increasing the risk of non-communicable diseases. Evidence-based practice and implementation of nutrition interventions/education for childhood cancer survivors has been poorly investigated and may influence their future health. This study aimed to explore the nutrition interventions/education needs of childhood cancer survivors and the barriers and facilitators to delivering follow-up services in New Zealand.

Carers support people with intellectual disabilities in many aspects including habitual shopping and preparation of food, but their own nutrition knowledge and the influence this may have on dietary intakes of clients is unknown. We explored the nutrition knowledge of carers of people with intellectual disabilities in residential care settings, their dietary habits and their influence on clients' food shopping and preparation and therefore the diet consumed by their clients.

Ponatinib dose intensity is associated with increased incidence of adverse effects (AEs), including vascular events. Ponatinib combined with azole antifungals may further increase the risk of AEs due to increased ponatinib exposure.
