Blebs, pressure driven protrusions of the cell membrane, facilitate the movement of eukaryotic cells such as the soil amoeba Dictyostelium discoideum, white blood cells and cancer cells. Blebs initiate when the cell membrane separates from the underlying cortex. A local rupture of the cortex, has been suggested as a mechanism by which blebs are initiated.

Background: Telogen effluvium is a hair loss disorder occurring about 3 months after a triggering event. The acute form impairs quality of life, but spontaneous recovery usually begins 3-6 months after identification and elimination of the cause, with complete recovery taking around 12 months.
Objectives: To investigate the effectiveness and safety of a hair lotion containing creatine, acetyl tetrapeptide-2 and B vitamins for reducing hair loss in acute telogen effluvium.
We present a technical platform that allows us to monitor and measure cortex and membrane dynamics during bleb-based chemotaxis. Using D. discoideum cells expressing LifeAct-GFP and crawling under agarose containing RITC-dextran, we were able to simultaneously visualize the actin cortex and the cell membrane throughout bleb formation.

Methods: Sixty patients, who underwent a cerebral computed tomography (CT) scan, were included.
The author report 5 cases of lumbar radiculopathy and 2 cases of low-back pain with disc herniation in which a CT Scan shows spontaneous disappearing or regression of disc herniation. This spontaneous regression is especially observed in young patients on average: 18 to 19 months. His mechanism is discussed.
