Introduction: Rapid climate changes in the early 21st century have triggered a global syndemic intertwining obesity, undernutrition and climate change, profoundly affecting health, especially children. Despite increasing research, a significant gap persists in understanding the mechanisms linking climate change to child malnutrition, particularly in children under 5 years old. This protocol proposes a scoping review to address this gap, with the aim of mapping the available evidence on the relationship between climate change and malnutrition among children under 5 years old.

Introduction: Renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system inhibition (RAASi) reduces intraglomerular pressure and is a standard therapy for dogs with proteinuric chronic kidney disease (CKD). RAASi can acutely decrease glomerular filtration rate (GFR); however, its effects on the marker of GFR serum symmetric dimethylarginine (SDMA) concentration in dogs have not been specifically evaluated. The renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) has a well-established key pathophysiologic role in kidney diseases, and pharmacotherapy targeting this system is a mainstay of treatment of affected human beings, cats, and dogs. Several studies have evaluated the circulating RAAS in animals with spontaneous or experimentally induced kidney diseases. Epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is crucial for tumor progression, being linked to alterations in the extracellular matrix (ECM). Understanding the ECM's role in EMT can uncover new therapeutic targets, yet replicating these interactions in vitro remains challenging. It is shown that hybrid hydrogels of alginate (ALG) and cell-derived decellularized ECM (dECM), with independently tunable composition and stiffness, are useful 3D-models to explore the impact of the breast tumor matrix on EMT.

Introduction: Patients with high-grade gliomas are at risk of developing increased intracranial hypertension (ICHT) in relation to the increase in volume of their tumor. ICP change cannot be measured by invasive method but can be estimated by using routine clinical signs, in combination with a standard imaging method, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Objective: This study aimed to describe the prevalence and predictors of childhood anemia in an Amazonian population-based birth cohort study.

Methods: Prevalence of maternal anemia was estimated at delivery (hemoglobin [Hb] concentration < 110 g/L) in women participating in the MINA-Brazil birth cohort study and in their children, examined at ages one, two (Hb < 110 g/L), and five (Hb < 115 g/L). Moreover, ferritin, soluble transferrin receptor, and C-reactive protein concentrations were measured in mothers at delivery and in their 1- and 2-year-old children to estimate the prevalence of iron deficiency and its contribution to anemia, while adjusting for potential confounders by multiple Poisson regression analysis (adjusted relative risk [RRa]).
