Objective To determine if the presence of meconium-stained amniotic fluid (MSAF) by itself or in combination with abnormal fetal heart tracing (FHT) (category II and III) is associated with poor neonatal outcomes in full-term newborns. Methods: Case-control study conducted March 15 to June 15, 2020. Cases were infants born to mothers with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 infection at delivery.
Objectives: To determine the incidence of immediate complications of elective newborn circumcision in 2 community teaching hospitals.
Methods: We performed a retrospective chart review of all term neonates who had circumcision performed between August 2011 and December 2014 at 2 community hospitals in New York. Neonatal hospital records and subsequent inpatient and outpatient records were reviewed.
In addition to its hematopoietic effects, erythropoietin causes an increased release of endothelin-1 and the stimulation of angiogenesis and thereby it may have possible role in development of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP). Our objective was to determine if an association exists between recombinant human erythropoietin (rhEPO) treatment and the development of ROP. Our case-control study involved 85 very low birthweight infants with birthweights <1500 g born during 2003 and 2004.
