Differences in Ostomy Pouch Seal Leakage Occurrences Between North American and European Residents.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare experiences and concerns about pouch seal leakage between persons with ostomies residing in North America (Canada and the United States) and Europe (United Kingdom, Netherlands, Sweden, Germany, Belgium, France, and Italy). Differences in reported pouch wear time and accessories used between the 2 groups were also examined.

Design: Secondary analysis of data from a cross-sectional study (Ostomy Life Study).

Preoperative sub-Tenon's capsule injection of ropivacaine in conjunction with general anesthesia in retinal detachment surgery.

Objective: To evaluate the effects of preoperative sub-Tenon's capsule injection of ropivacaine on intraoperative hemodynamics, postoperative pain, nausea, and recovery in patients undergoing scleral buckling surgery under general anesthesia (GA).

Design: Randomized double-masked controlled clinical trial.

Participants: Ninety-eight patients with primary rhegmatogenous retinal detachment undergoing scleral buckling surgery under GA.
