Article Synopsis
  • The study focused on creating a new scoring model (CSI-score) for assessing the severity of mesenteric artery stenosis in patients with chronic mesenteric ischemia (CMI).
  • A total of 242 patients were analyzed, resulting in a scoring system that effectively distinguished between low and high severity cases based on their arterial health, with a significant cut-off point established at a score of 8.
  • The high-score group (≥ 8) demonstrated an increased prevalence of related health issues and a higher likelihood of requiring invasive treatments, highlighting the importance of this scoring model in predicting treatment needs and outcomes for CMI patients.

Brain metastases frequently occur in lung cancer and dramatically limit prognosis of affected patients. The influence of tumor-associated macrophages and microglia (TAM/M) and their receptor CX3CR1 on different steps of brain metastasis formation from lung cancer is poorly characterized. We established a syngeneic orthotopic cerebral metastasis model in mice by combining a chronic cranial window with repetitive intravital 2-photon laser scanning microscopy.

Objective: Besides VEGF, alternative signalling via CXCR2 and its ligands CXCL2/CXCL8 is a crucial part of angiogenesis in glioblastoma. Our aim was to understand the role of CXCR2 for glioma biology and elucidate the therapeutic potential of its specific inhibition.

Methods: GL261 glioma cells were implanted intracranially in syngeneic mice.
