Integrating Family Caregivers Into Cancer Care: Implementation of Evidence-Based Caregiver Protocols Into Gynecologic Oncology Practice.

Purpose: Family caregivers (CGs) of individuals with cancer are increasingly relied upon to provide long-term, sometimes intense care, although their integration into clinical cancer care remains minimal. The Caregiver Advocacy, Research, and Education (CARE) Center is a novel nurse-led academic-clinical partnership to support family CGs of individuals with gynecologic cancer. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Center protocols and report metrics of CG needs and Center support.

Background: As a third of all community dwellers aged 65+ fall each year, falls are common reasons for older adults to present to an Emergency Department (ED). Although EDs should assess patients' multifactorial fall risks to prevent future fall-related injuries, this frequently does not occur. We describe our protocol to determine the feasibility, acceptability, and safety of a pilot ED Virtual Observation Unit (VOU) Falls program.

Exploring Young Adult Comfort with Oral Health Care Providers' Discussions Related to HPV: A mixed methods study.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most prevalent sexually transmitted infection in the United States and oral healthcare providers (OHPs) have become increasingly focused on preventing oral health outcomes related to HPV through screening for oral cancer and recommending HPV vaccination. The purpose of this study was to explore the comfort of having HPV-related discussions with OHPs among a college-age population. Students enrolled in an introductory-level, personal health class at a large, public, mid-Atlantic institution were invited to participate in an anonymous survey.
