Background: Caring for self by maintaining emotional well-being is important for pre-registration nursing students if they are to graduate as confident and competent health professionals.
Purpose: The purpose of this cross-sectional study was to identify the predictors of emotional well-being of pre-registration nursing students by measuring their levels of anxiety, depression, behavioural control, positive affect and general distress.
Method: A cross-sectional study designed facilitated an examination of the level of emotional well-being of pre-registration nursing students (enrolled in their first, second and third year) in an Australian university across five campuses using the Mental Health Index (MHI).
Background: Phenomenology is a suitable method for investigating people's experiences and van Kaam's psychophenomenological model (PPM) is increasingly being used in nursing research.
Aim: To describe the use of PPM to interpret the meaning of resilience in the experiences of people with schizophrenia.
Discussion: Semi-structured interviews were conducted with a purposive sample of 14 people with schizophrenia.

Mental health policy in Australia is committed to the development of recovery-focused services and facilitating consumer participation in all aspects of mental health service delivery. Negative attitudes of mental health professionals have been identified as a major barrier to achieving these goals. Although the education of health professionals has been identified as a major strategy, there is limited evidence to suggest that consumers are actively involved in this education process.
