Motivation for change in the health care of children with developmental disabilities: Pilot continuing professional development-quality improvement project.

Aim: People with developmental disabilities (DDs) experience significant barriers accessing and receiving optimal health care resulting in poorer health-care outcomes. Continuing professional development (CPD) represents an effective means to alter health-care staff behaviour to improve the care of people with DDs. However, given the scepticism regarding the effectiveness of certain CPD models' ability to alter learner's workplace behaviour, the current pilot study developed and determined the feasibility of a novel CPD programme aimed at improving the health care provided to children with DDs.

What does it mean to conduct participatory research with Indigenous peoples? A lexical review.

Background: To better understand and promote public health, participatory research with Indigenous peoples represents recommended practice, worldwide. However, due to the different ways such research is referred to, described, and used, it is unclear what might (and might not) warrant the term when collaborating with Indigenous peoples. As such, this article expands conceptual understandings of participatory research with Indigenous peoples, across timelines and regions.

A double-blind randomized controlled trial of oxytocin nasal spray and social cognition training for young people with early psychosis.

Social-cognitive deficits contribute to poor functional outcomes in early psychosis; however, no effective pharmacological treatments exist for these problems. This study was the first to investigate the efficacy of an extended treatment of oxytocin nasal spray combined with social cognition training (SCT) to improve social cognition, clinical symptoms, and social functioning in early psychosis. In a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled, between-subjects trial, 52 individuals (aged 16-35 years) diagnosed with an early psychosis schizophrenia-spectrum illness were recruited.
