We report the development of a novel diagnostic tool, named wave function overlap tool (WFOT), designed to evaluate the overlap between wave functions computed at single-reference [i.e., time-dependent density functional theory or configuration interaction singles (CIS)] and multireference (i.

Unreliable information found on the web can heavily influence patients to the extent that it can lead to wrong decisions in the choice of treatment. In our daily experience we meet more informed patients and given the increasing use of polyurethane-coated implants in breast reconstruction in Europe, we wondered about the level of information available online.

Abdominoperineal resection (APR) is still a valuable option in the presence of cancer recurrences or salvage surgery. Primary perineal closure after conventional APR curries a high rate of wound complications. A multidisciplinary approach with perineal soft tissue reconstruction surgical time improves the immediate and long-term prognosis of these patients.

Choosing the optimum type of reconstructive technique is a clinical challenge. We therefore conducted a national multicenter study to analyze the impact of PMRT on breast reconstruction.

The aim of the study is reporting our experience with SD of the NAC in the setting of NSM, identify the rate of nipple and skin necrosis and other complications and to evaluate patient satisfaction with cosmetic outcome.
Patients And Methods: A retrospective review of female patients, who underwent NSM and breast reconstruction between the July 2014 and the July 2019, was performed at the Breast Unit of San Giovanni-Addolorata Hospital in Rome.
Background: Nipple-sparing mastectomy (NSM) is increasingly used for women with breast cancer who are not candidates for conservative surgery. The authors previously reported satisfying results with NSM after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT).
Methods: From 2010 to 2020, 1072 women underwent mastectomy at the authors' institution.
Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma (MEC) it can origin from a mandibular odontogenic cyst. We report the case of a 63-year-old man with MEC of the right retromolar trigonum of the mandibula. We performed a wide mandibular excision and immediate reconstruction with a fibula bone free flap.

Tradiotionally, jejunal or radial forearm flaps are the common reconstructive choice. Recently, the anterolateral thigh (ALT) free flap has served for pharyngoesophageal reconstruction.

Remarkable advancements in HCT and immune effector cell therapies have changed expectations around reversibility of organ dysfunction and survival for affected patients. Herein, members of the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO), Pediatric Acute Lung Injury and Sepsis Investigators (PALISI) Network (HCT and cancer immunotherapy subgroup), the Pediatric Diseases Working Party of the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT), the supportive care committee of the Pediatric Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Consortium (PTCTC), and the Pediatric Intensive Care Oncology Kids in Europe Research (POKER) group of the European Society of Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care (ESPNIC) provide consensus recommendations on the use of ECMO in children receiving HCT and immune effector cell therapy.

Nevertheless, due to the potentially unsafe stem-like properties of adipocytes at the tumoral bed level, no clear evidence of the procedure's oncological safety has been clearly documented at present.
Patients And Methods: We retrospectively collected data of early breast cancer (BC) patients from 17 Italian Breast Units and assessed differences in terms of locoregional recurrence rate (LRR) and locoregional recurrence-free survival (LRFS) between patients who underwent AFG and patients who did not.
Background: Mastectomy represents a deep burden for women with breast cancer. Very little is known about the psychological consequences over time and the quality of life (QoL) of women so treated, with or without breast reconstruction (BR).
Patients And Methods: A total of 709 patients underwent mastectomy with or without BR between 2002 and 2012 at one institution.
Purpose: We report long-term outcomes of phase 2 trial on patients with invasive breast cancer treated with accelerated partial-breast irradiation (APBI) using tomotherapy after breast conservative surgery.
Methods And Materials: From December 2010 to December 2018, we treated 338 women with APBI-tomotherapy: 38.5 Gy in 10 once-daily fractions.
Background: Capsular contracture (CC) is the most common complication following Immediate Breast Reconstruction (IBR) with breast implants. Different implant surfaces were developed aiming to reduce the incidence of CC. We evaluated the incidence and degree of CC after Direct-to-Implant (DTI) IBR with insertion of textured (TE) or polyurethane (PU) covered implants.

Along with this trend, surgical training quality and efficacy are gaining importance and innovative training methods such as online videos shared on social media portals, are becoming main updating tools. In hazardous times like COVID-19 pandemic nowadays, online communication becomes of vital importance and adaptation and innovation are fundamental to keep research and education alive.

The great majority of fatal events have been recorded in adults older than 70 years; of them, a large proportion had comorbidities. Since data regarding the epidemiologic and clinical characteristics in neonates and children developing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) are scarce and originate mainly from one country (China), we reviewed all the current literature from 1 December 2019 to 7 May 2020 to provide useful information about SARS-CoV2 viral biology, epidemiology, diagnosis, clinical features, treatment, prevention, and hospital organization for clinicians dealing with this selected population.

There is no consensus on the best implant-based reconstruction technique, considering 2 stages (expander-prosthesis) or direct-to-implant (DTI). A retrospective review of consecutive adult female patients who underwent NSM with breast reconstruction over a 3-year period (January 2013 to December 2015) was performed.

Broad coincidence is found with recent experiments, including a pronounced shoulder in the 6-12 eV region.

To increase the indications for NSM and decrease such complications, different procedures of "surgical delay" (SD) have been described.
Materials And Methods: A retrospective analysis of patients who underwent SD for NSM at four Italian Breast Centers from 2014 to 2017 was performed.
Quantum physics is undoubtedly the most successful theory of the microscopic world, yet the complexities which arise in applying it even to simple atomic and molecular systems render the description of basic collision probabilities a formidable task. For this reason, approximations are often employed, the validity of which may be restricted to given energy regimes and/or targets and/or projectiles. Now we have found that the lognormal function, widely used for the probability distribution of macroscopic stochastic events (as diverse as periods of incubation of and recovery from diseases, size of grains, abundance of species, fluctuations in economic quantities, etc.

Results are presented in the energy range (10-300) eV. Significant deviations from previous measurements are found which are, if ascribed entirely to the angular acceptances of various experimental systems, in quantitative accord with ab initio theoretical predictions of the differential elastic scattering cross section.

Patients were considered for NSM if there were no clinical and radiological evidence of invasion or close proximity (<1 cm) to the nipple-areola complex (NAC).
