A growing amount of research shows a positive association between urban nature and urban residents' psychological and physical well-being and quality of life. With its focus on specific dimensions of well-being and reliance either on large-scale objective data sets or experimental and comparative designs, prior research does not explicitly address the relationships between the various types of urban nature as experienced by citizens and their overall well-being. The present research proposes a model for the potential influence of the perceptions of the type and characteristics of nature close to urban residences and citizens' well-being via their frequency of exposure to, and their activities in, nature.

Thirty-eight fish were used in this study. The digestive tube was measured and dissected for anatomical description, and stained with (i) haematoxylin and eosin, for histological analyses; (ii) periodic acid-Schiff, for detected neutral mucins; and (iii) Alcian Blue (AB) pH 1.

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the association of variants in the gene with AD in multiethnic populations from South and North America.

Knockout mice for dopamine transporters (DAT) as well as site-specific knockout mice lacking dopaminergic D2 autoreceptors in dopaminergic neurons (DA-D2RKO) display behavioral alterations such as hyperlocomotion and abnormal prepulse inhibition. However, it is possible that dopaminergic imbalances may have different effects during varied neurodevelopmental windows.

Roundup® (RD) is a glyphosate-based herbicide used to control weeds in agriculture, and fishponds. In the Amazon, hypoxia is a natural phenomenon in flooded areas. Beyond the challenge of hypoxia, fish need to cope with the use of pesticides as RD that increases in the aquatic environment through the leaching of agricultural areas, and in aquaculture fish tanks.

The digestive tube of P. brachypomus consists of three macroscopically distinct portions: short, rectilinear and elastic-walled ooesophagus, J-shaped siphon stomach and a long intestine with rectilinear and curved portions, defined by patterns of villi as foregut, midgut, and hindgut.

Alterations in dopaminergic signaling and neurodevelopment are associated with many neuropsychiatric disorders, such as attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism, and schizophrenia. Imbalances in dopamine levels during prenatal development are associated with behavioral alterations later in life, like hyperactivity and addiction, and it is possible that dopaminergic imbalances may have diverse effects during different neurodevelopmental windows. In this study, we investigate whether an increase in dopamine levels during the perinatal developmental window affects behavior of juvenile male and female Swiss mice.

In this paper, we have described for the first time a semiquantitative method to evaluate histopathological damage, taking the degree of Neoechinorhynchus buttnerae attachment to the intestinal wall of the tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum), an important species in Brazilian aquaculture, into account. Twelve specimens of tambaqui were collected from a fish farm. Their bowels were removed and divided into seven morphologically distinct portions according to density and distribution of the parasite studies.

Although cellular immune reactions seem to be crucial for protective immune responses in Eimeria spp. infections, there are also evidences on an active involvement of the humoral counterpart. In the present study, we have analyzed the humoral response of goat kids subjected to primary and challenge infections with Eimeria ninakholyakimovae.

After fish biometrics, analysis of macroscopic changes in morphology and counting of parasites, bowel fragments were fixed and submitted to histological and histochemical processing. All fish analyzed had acanthocephalans in the intestine; intestinal loops were milky white in color, with the presence of nodules with heavy parasitism.

Control of caprine coccidiosis is increasingly hampered by resistances developed against coccidiostatic drugs leading to an enhanced need for anticoccidial vaccines. In the current study we conducted an oral immunization trial with live attenuated sporulated Eimeria ninakohlyakimovae oocysts.

A total of 101 kids of 2-4 weeks of age, naturally infected with Eimeria spp., were divided into five groups and studies were conducted to analyse the effects of metaphylactic administration of diclazuril (Vecoxan®) on parasitological and productive parameters.

However, few researchers have investigated the relationship between a polymorphism in the promoter of the serotonin transporter gene (5-HTTLPR) and the different components of impulsivity in a non-clinical population. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between a polymorphism in the promoter region of the serotonin transporter gene (5-HTTLPR) and the different components of impulsivity in a non-clinical population.

For the development of suitable vaccination strategies basic research is needed for which one important prerequisite is the establishment of in vitro cultures guaranteeing the availability of parasitic material. Therefore, primary cell cultures [caprine, bovine and human umbilical vein endothelial cells (CUVEC, BUVEC, HUVEC)] as well as permanent cell lines [bovine foetal gastrointestinal cells (BFGC), bovine colonic epithelial cells (BCEC), African green monkey kidney cells (VERO)] were exposed to vital sporozoites of E.
