Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe the clinical outcome of scleral staphyloma secondary to necrotizing scleritis treated with autologous pericranial grafting.
Case Report: A 63-year-old woman with necrotizing scleritis and choroidal protrusion underwent homologous scleral grafting, which failed. The patient's medical management was optimized for control of her systemic inflammation, and she underwent a second surgery consisting of autologous pericranium grafted to the parietal region.
Objective: This study aimed to compare the antimicrobial effect of three endodontic sealers (AH Plus, Mineral trioxide aggregate [MTA] Fillapex, and BioRoot RCS) with and without amoxicillin against .
Methodology: Amoxicillin, equivalent to 10% of the sealers' total weight, was mixed with the sealers. Another batch was prepared without amoxicillin.
Depression is recognized as a significant public health issue in the United States. The National Survey on Drug Use and Health reports that 21.0 million adults aged 18 or older had major depressive disorder in 2020, including 14.

Purpose: To assess the clinical relevance of The European School for Advanced Studies in Ophthalmology (ESASO) classification in patients with diabetic macular edema (DME) after their first dexamethasone implant (DEXI) treatment.
Methods: Retrospective real-world study conducted on consecutive DME patients who underwent DEXI treatment and were controlled at month-2. Subjects were initially classified according to the ESASO classification stages.
We evaluated four root canal sealers to determine their antimicrobial effectiveness against . The direct contact test was used to measure the effectiveness of the study materials and close contact between bacteria on the kinetics of bacterial growth. The agar diffusion test (ADT) was also performed for comparison.

It also shows that artificial neural network techniques applied to large clinical data sets may provide a meaningful data-driven approach to categorize patients for population health management, and support in the control and detection of hypertensive patients, which is part of the critical factors for diseases of the heart. Data was obtained from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey from 2007 to 2016.

The present work focuses on the evaluation of the apoptotic mechanism of action on colon cancer cells. Initially, lethal concentrations (LC) were obtained for the three studied cell lines (HT-29, RKO and SW-480).

This behavior is well-captured by the Two-Wave with Diffuse Power (TWDP) fading distribution, which shows great fit to field measurements in such scenarios. In this paper, we address the joint estimation of the parameters K and Δ that characterize the TWDP fading model, based on the observation of the received signal envelope.

Nontoxic concentrations of L-CA were assayed and compared to commercial ʟ-carnitine effects. L-CA did not affect adipogenesis in normal cells, but an increment of TG accumulation was observed on insulin-resistant adipocytes (80%) when compared with resistant control.

Materials And Methods: An observational retrospective study was conducted to describe the possible effect of lesions of origin pulpar and/or periapical success or failure of the implant. The sample consisted of review of 800 implants, of which 500 were conducted at the Faculty of Dentistry of the UANL and 300 private clinics of Maxillofacial surgeons experienced in the placement of those who reside in Monterrey, Mexico.
Throughout life, bone tissue undergoes a continuous process of resorption and formation. Melatonin, with its antioxidant properties and its ability to detoxify free radicals, as suggested by Conconi et al. (2000) may interfere in the osteoclast function and thereby inhibit bone resorption, as suggested by Schroeder et al.

Methods: The authors performed a case-control genetic association study in 268 unrelated Spanish patients (POAG1) and 380 control subjects matched for sex, age, and ethnicity. WDR36 sequence variations were screened by either direct DNA sequencing or denaturing high-performance liquid chromatography.
Purpose: Primary open angle glaucoma (POAG) is a genetically heterogeneous disease resulting in optic disc cupping and visual impairment. It can be inherited as either a complex or a monogenic trait. Autosomal dominant POAG is the most frequent type of monogenic glaucoma.

Methods: The two coding exons of CYP1B1 were screened for sequence alterations by direct PCR DNA sequencing in 37 and 82 unrelated Spanish subjects diagnosed with OHT and POAG, respectively. As a control we used a group of 93 subjects from whom OHT or glaucoma were ruled out.
