Background: There is an increased prevalence of mental health problems in various population groups as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and its consequences, especially regarding anxiety, stress, depression, fear, and sleep disturbances, require to be investigated longitudinally.
Objective: This study aimed to determine the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic had on the mental health of Nursing students, as well as to examine other associated factors such as anxiety, fear, sleep disturbances, and coping strategies.
Method: This systematic review and meta-analysis were designed following the PRISMA guidelines and were registered in PROSPERO with code CRD42024541904.

Background: Myofascial trigger points (MTrPs) in the lower trapezius have been recognized as an important source of neck pain. This study aims to compare the lower trapezius muscle strength, pressure pain threshold (PPT) and muscle thickness at rest and contraction between participants and painful vs. no-painful side with active and latent MTrPs; and to examine the associations among these variables with pain intensity, duration and disability in patients with neck pain.

Methods: A systematic review was conducted in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines in the PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science electronic databases in August 2024. The methodological quality of the included studies was evaluated using the critical appraisal tools developed by the Joanna Briggs Institute.
The preparation of a hybrid nanomaterial is reported by covalently attaching 3,5-dinitrobenzoic acid groups to the surface of oxidized multi-walled carbon nanotubes using 1,6-diaminohexane as cross-linking agent. This nanomaterial, modified with the redox mediator, was used as transduction element to construct an amperometric sensor for the efficient indirect determination of glutathione reductase at a low working potential of - 0.05 V, through the oxidation of unconsumed nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) in the enzymatic reaction.

While the mutational profiling of somatic tumours is well described, the genes behind the susceptibility to develop GIST are not yet fully discovered. This study explores the genomic landscape of two primary GIST cases, aiming to identify shared germline pathogenic variants and shed light on potential key players in tumourigenesis.

Objective: To evaluate the foot-health-related quality of life in individuals with versus without lower-limb lymphedema.
Methods: A case-control study was carried out in an academic clinic in Lisbon, Portugal. Eighty participants (40 controls and 40 with lymphedema) were included in the study.
Background: Lateral ankle sprain is one of the most common musculoskeletal issues during sports and activities of daily living. This study investigated the effect of combined neuromuscular training and conventional training (including strengthening, range of motion, and balance exercises) on muscle morphology, dynamic balance, perceived ankle instability, and functional capacity in persons with chronic ankle instability (CAI).
Hypothesis: The combination of neuromuscular and conventional training programs might result in additional benefits on the morphology of muscle, dynamic balance, and functional capacity in subjects with CAI.
Major depression (MD) and obesity are complex genetic disorders that are frequently comorbid. However, the study of both diseases concurrently remains poorly addressed and therefore the underlying genetic mechanisms involved in this comorbidity remain largely unknown. Here we examine the contribution of common and rare variants to this comorbidity through a next-generation sequencing (NGS) approach.

Introduction: Pulmonary atelectasis is common in patients undergoing laparoscopic abdominal surgery under general anaesthesia, which increases the risk of perioperative respiratory complications. Alveolar recruitment manoeuvres (ARM) are used to open up the lung parenchyma with atelectasis, although the duration of their benefit has not been clearly established. The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of an ARM in laparoscopic colon surgery, the duration of response over time, and its haemodynamic impact.

The objective of this study is, therefore, to evaluate and analyze the kinesiophobic beliefs reported by individuals with and without lower limb lymphedema, regarding the agreement, severity and differences found, and to establish levels of kinesiophobia.
Methods: A case-control study with a total sample of 80 participants (40 with lower limb lymphedema and 40 without) was performed.
Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate the relationship between upper limb kinetics and perceived fatigability in elderly individuals during an upper limb position sustained isometric task.
Methods: A total of 31 elderly participants, 16 men (72.94±4.

Introduction: Total hip arthroplasty is one of the most frequent surgical interventions in the hospital setting. Nonetheless, the ideal method to manage post-operative pain is still unknown. Multimodal analgesia techniques based on regional anaesthesia are amongst the most promising solutions.
