Background: There is currently no prognostic scale for patients with Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) in the Mexican population.

Objective: The objective of the study was to examine the factors associated with functional prognosis by proposing short-term and long-term prognostic scales.

Methods: Prospective cohort of patients with GBS at an academic medical center, with neuroconduction study and 6-month follow-up.

Treatment-Related Fluctuation in Guillain-Barre Syndrome With the Acute Motor-Sensory Axonal Neuropathy (AMSAN) Variant: A Case Report.

We present the case of a 60-year-old male patient with Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) who experienced treatment-related fluctuations (TRF) with a history of ayahuasca consumption. The patient presented to the neurological emergency department without a history of infection (upper respiratory tract or diarrhea) or vaccination in the past four weeks, but 14 days prior, the patient had consumed ayahuasca. Upon admission, the patient exhibited progressive weakness in all four limbs, with no cranial nerve involvement, a muscle strength Medical Research Council (MRC) score of 36/60, and generalized areflexia.

Antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) combine the selectivity of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) with the efficacy of chemotherapeutics to target cancers without toxicity to normal tissue. Clinically, most chemotherapeutic ADCs are based on complex organic molecules, while the conjugation of metallodrugs to mAbs has been overlooked, despite the resurgent interest in metal-based drugs as cancer chemotherapeutics. In 2019, we described the first gold ADCs containing gold-triphenylphosphane fragments as a proof of concept.

Beam Steering 3D Printed Dielectric Lens Antennas for Millimeter-Wave and 5G Applications.

Two types of cost-efficient antennas based on dielectric gradient index dielectric lens have been designed for 5G applications at 28 GHz. The first is a linearly polarized flat lens antenna (LP-FLA) for terrestrial 5G communications. The second is a novel circularly polarized stepped lens antenna (CP-SLA) for 5G satellite services.

New heterometallic binuclear and trinuclear platinum(IV)-gold(I) compounds of the type [Pt(L) Cl (OH){(OOC-4-C H -PPh )AuCl} ] (L=NH , n=2; x=1, 2; L=diaminocyclohexane, DACH, n=1; x=2) are described. These compounds are cytotoxic and selective against a small panel of renal, bladder, ovarian, and breast cancer cell lines. We selected a trinuclear PtAu compound containing the Pt core based on oxaliplatin, to further investigate its cell-death pathway, cell and organelle uptake and anticancer effects against the triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) MDA-MB-231 cell line.

[Clinical and neurophysiological patterns of early presenting symptoms in acute onset chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy].

Introduction: The phenotypes of chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) include an acute-onset phenotype (A-CIDP) with an evolution time of less than eight weeks from the onset of symptoms. This entity can be confused with Guillain-Barre syndrome of the acute inflammatory demyelinating variety (AIDP), delaying the start of treatment.

Objective: To analyze the clinical and electrophysiological differences between A-CIDP, classic CIDP and AIDP, in order to identify factors that may help in the early differential diagnosis.

Recently, an interesting case of a 58-year-old male patient was published describing an unusual clinical presentation of hypokalemic periodic paralysis where a late-onset limb-girdle myopathy had developed 41 years after paralysis occurred when the patient was 11 years old. Muscle biopsy results were consistent with myopathic changes and revealed the presence of vacuoles, without inflammatory reaction.
