Peripheral nerve injuries (PNIs) that consist of simple nerve severance often result in severe motor impairment and permanent loss of function. Such patients face significant costs and pose major burdens to healthcare systems. Currently, the most promising surgical technique to achieve the best clinical outcome after such PNIs is immediate primary coaptation of severed nerve ends by microsutures (neurorrhaphy).

In the United States, the health and economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic have disproportionately affected the Latinx community. Within the Latinx community, people with schizophrenia-spectrum disorders are more susceptible to exposure to the virus. Given their increased risk of contracting and getting sick from the virus, efforts targeting the Latinx population should focus on increasing knowledge and safe practices associated with COVID-19.

The cation-insertion solid state electrochemistry of a potassium copper(II) hexacyanoferrate in contact with LiClO /DMSO, NaPF /DMSO, and KPF /DMSO electrolytes has been theoretically and experimentally studied using the voltammetry of immobilized particles methodology. Voltammetric data, combined with SEM/EDS analysis permit to determine a K Cu Fe [Fe Fe (CN) ] stoichiometry for the synthesized solid. Separation of electronic and ionic contributions to Gibbs energy changes can be made based on cyclic voltammetric and open circuit potential measurements.

A Clinical-Genetic Risk Score for Predicting Cancer-Associated Venous Thromboembolism: A Development and Validation Study Involving Two Independent Prospective Cohorts.

Purpose: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a leading cause of death among patients with cancer. The Khorana score was developed for assessing the risk of VTE in outpatients with cancer receiving chemotherapy, but its accuracy in identifying patients at high risk has been questioned. The aim of this study was to develop and validate a clinical-genetic score that improves the assessment of VTE risk in oncology outpatients within 6 months of diagnosis.

Population structure and hybridisation in a population of Hawaiian feral chickens.

Chickens are believed to have inhabited the Hawaiian island of Kauai since the first human migrations around 1200AD, but numbers have peaked since the tropical storms Iniki and Iwa in the 1980s and 1990s that destroyed almost all the chicken coops on the island and released large numbers of domestic chickens into the wild. Previous studies have shown these now feral chickens are an admixed population between Red Junglefowl (RJF) and domestic chickens. Here, using genetic haplotypic data, we estimate the time of the admixture event between the feral population on the island and the RJF to 1981 (1976-1995), coinciding with the timings of storm Iwa and Iniki.

We report on a spectral splitting effect of the cavity-less lasing emission of nitrogen ions at 391.4 nm pumped by 800-nm femtosecond laser pulses. It was found that with the increase of the nitrogen gas pressure and pump pulse energy, both R and P branches experience spectral splitting.

The Knowledge Sharing Capability in Innovative Behavior: A SEM Approach from Graduate Students' Insights.

The capability to share knowledge is considered one of the most relevant components of knowledge management. Moreover, there is little empirical evidence indicating how future human resources in the construction industry value the richness of knowledge sharing and the richness of their innovative behavior. The purposes of this study are (1) to determine which facilitators, from the point of view of master's degree students related to engineering and construction management in Spain, most substantially influence knowledge sharing capability; (2) to test whether knowledge sharing capability (KS) positively influences innovative behavior (IB); and (3) demonstrating whether organizational innovation climate (OIC) is a factor that moderates the relationship between KS and IB.

Using a metagenomic sequencing approach, we described and compared the diversity and dynamics of the oropharyngeal and fecal eukaryotic virome of nine asymptomatic children in a semi-rural community setting located in the State of Morelos, Mexico. Ninety oropharyngeal swabs and 97 fecal samples were collected starting 2 weeks after birth and monthly thereafter until 12 months of age. In both niches, more than 95% of the total sequence reads were represented by viruses that replicate either in humans or in plants.

Community pharmacy (CF) is daily confronted with situations that prevent the proper dispensing of medication, putting at risk the continuity of treatment by patients, which causes medication-related problems (DRPs). In this pilot study, carried out in the Principality of Asturias, the aim was to quantify the number of incidents of this type related to those aspects of the prescription that could be easily corrected by the community pharmacist through simple interventions at the time of dispensing. It was carried out in ten pharmacies in this autonomous community during normal opening hours over fifteen working days.

The extracellular buildup of amyloid beta (Aβ) plaques in the brain is a hallmark of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Detection of Aβ pathology is essential for AD diagnosis and for identifying and recruiting research participants for clinical trials evaluating disease-modifying therapies. Currently, AD diagnoses are usually made by clinical assessments, although detection of AD pathology with positron emission tomography (PET) scans or cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis can be used by specialty clinics.

The use of Heli-FX EndoAnchors (Medtronic CardioVascular, Santa Rosa, CA) with the Endurant II stent graft (Medtronic CardioVascular) has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration for juxtarenal abdominal aortic aneurysms with neck lengths ≤4 mm. The use of this technique of endosuture aneurysm repair has not been previously described in the setting of rupture. We have presented two cases of successful endosuture aneurysm repair of ruptured juxtarenal AAAs.
