Background: ABO-incompatible liver transplantation (ABOi LT) can now be successfully performed with standard pretransplant induction therapy. For patients with chronic end-stage liver disease (ESLD), ABOi LT can achieve long-term outcomes comparable to those of blood type-compatible (ABOc) LT. Outcomes of patients with acute liver failure (ALF) who undergo urgent transplantation surgery with a limited induction period should be further investigated.

Methods: We performed a retrospective cohort study including all adults aged ≥50 years who developed AFF while on bisphosphonates between 1 January 2008 and 31 December 2020, and subsequently managed in the Osteoporosis Centre at Queen Mary Hospital in Hong Kong. A control group of patients who developed fragility hip fractures while on bisphosphonates in the same period was included for comparison.
We investigated clinical information underneath the beat-to-beat fluctuation of the arterial blood pressure (ABP) waveform morphology. We proposed the Dynamical Diffusion Map algorithm (DDMap) to quantify the variability of morphology. The underlying physiology could be the compensatory mechanisms involving complex interactions between various physiological mechanisms to regulate the cardiovascular system.

It is unclear whether the increasing frequency of LTs in ALD patients has a negative impact on deceased-donor (DDLT) allocation and whether the current policy of 6 months of abstinence before transplantation effectively prevents recidivism after transplantation or improves long-term outcomes.
Methods: A total of 506 adult LT recipients, including 97 ALD patients, were enrolled.
Background: The right liver graft has sometimes been from the trifurcation portal vein (TPV) or independent right posterior portal vein (IRPPV). Managing these PV anatomies to increase the recipient's survival rate remains challenging. Many published techniques could overcome this problem, such as simple unification venoplasty (SUV), autologous portal Y-graft interposition, conjoined unification venoplasty (CUV) with a baseball-like conduit, and SUV plus circumferential fence-like vein extension.

However, this therapy carries a risk of post-transplant graft rejection. The washout (WO) period between the last ICI dose and LT seems critical in preventing postoperative rejection.

Our current follow-up study evaluated the evolution of thyroid volumes and thyroiditis features within the same group of patients 6 months later.
Methods: Adult COVID-19 survivors who underwent thyroid ultrasonography 2 months after infection (USG1) were recruited for follow-up USG 6 months later (USG2).
Background: The disparity between kidney donation and the number of uremic patients on the waiting list has increased the demand for older live-donor kidneys (OLK). However, the donor-recipient age gap may have an impact on the recipient's outcome.
Methods: Patients who underwent living donor kidney transplantation at our institute between 2005 and 2019 were enrolled and categorized into four donor-recipient groups according to age (≥50 years and <50 years).
Measuring the three-dimensional motion of trees at every position remains challenging as it requires dynamic measurement technology with sufficient spatial and temporal resolution. Consequently, this study explores the use of a novel multi-beam flash light detection and ranging (LiDAR) sensor to tackle such a sensing barrier. A framework is proposed to record tree vibrations, to construct the motions of tree skeletons from the point-cloud frames recorded by the LiDAR sensor and to derive the dynamic properties of trees.

However, this dosing may not be applicable to all patients depending on their clinical condition. This study focuses on the pharmacokinetic dynamics of PrOD with CsA in Asian organ transplant recipients with severe liver fibrosis or cirrhosis who undergo concurrent treatment with PrOD treatment and CsA.

Methods: A total of 11 MMA mut-type patients (including 10 mut0 cases and 1 mut-case) who received LT in our institute were reviewed.
Background: Liver transplantation is the definitive treatment for defined stage hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in cirrhotic patients. Loco-regional therapy (LRT) may be considered before transplantation to prevent the disease progression and the patient from dropping out of the waiting list. This study aims to evaluate the impact of repeated pretransplant LRTs on the long-term outcomes in HCC liver transplant recipients.

Methods: Adult COVID-19 survivors without known thyroid disorders who attended dedicated COVID-19 clinic underwent thyroid ultrasonography and assessment of thyroid function and autoimmunity.
Background: This study measures the first-pass arrival times in the hepatic artery and portal vein of the transplanted liver using contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) and assess its correlation with graft performance in the early posttransplant period.
Methods: This study evaluated 35 liver transplant recipients who underwent CEUS examination within 1 month of transplant surgery. CEUS under contrast-specific harmonic imaging mode were recorded for 60 seconds immediately after intravenous administration of microbubble ultrasound contrast medium (Sonazoid, GE Healthcare, Oslo, Norway).

Background: Pancreas transplantation remains the best long-term treatment option to achieve physiological euglycemia and insulin independence in patients with labile diabetes mellitus (DM). It is widely accepted as an optimal procedure for type 1 DM (T1DM), but its application in type 2 DM (T2DM) is not unanimously acknowledged.
Methods: In total, 146 diabetes patients undergoing pancreas transplantation were included in this study.
Introduction: Hip fractures in elderly people are increasing. A five-year Integrated Hip Fracture Care Pathway (IHFCP) was implemented at our hospital for seamlessly integrating care for these patients from admission to post discharge. We aimed to evaluate how IHFCP improved process and outcome measures in these patients.

In Taiwan, living donor LT (LDLT) has expanded indications but is rarely performed for this age group because of unfavorable outcomes in the literature. We evaluated LDLT outcomes of patients <6 months old.

This study aims to revisit the feasibility of procuring the medial segment graft (MSG) by three-dimensional (3D) printing and ex vivo procedures performed on explanted diseased livers to overcome the gap between theory and clinical implementation.
Methods: From October 2004 to December 2016, we retrospectively analyzed preoperative computed tomography, magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography, and intraoperative cholangiography images of our previous live liver donors and identified the indicated anatomy for the MSG, then materialized by 3D printing models to simulate the engraftment.
Takotsubo syndrome is a rare disease and remained ambiguous with its etiology. The disease manifests in various clinical characteristics and even mimicking acute coronary syndrome. We are reporting a case of an elderly lady who manifested by unsteady gaits and recurrent falls.

We report our experience initiating TLDRH using a stepwise approach to gradually convert laparoscopy-assisted donor right hepatectomy (LADRH) to TLDRH.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the data of 61 LADRHs, 56 conventional open donor right hepatectomies (CODRHs), and 3 TLDRHs performed between March 2014 and June 2018.
Background And Aims: Surveillance post-endoscopic resection (ER) currently warrants biopsy samples from the resection site scar in most cases, although clinical practice is variable. A classification with standard criteria for scars has not yet been established. We aimed to create and validate a novel classification for post-ER scars by using specific criteria based on advanced imaging.
