Extranodal natural killer (NK)/T-cell lymphoma-nasal type (ENKTL-NT) is a rare, aggressive subtype of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma associated with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection and has a poor prognosis. ENKTL-NT primarily involves the nasal cavity, and the colon as the primary site has rarely been reported. Its lack of a characteristic clinical presentation makes early diagnosis difficult to diagnose early, and misdiagnosis is common without the use of immunohistochemistry of specimens.

Ferroptosis plays a critical role in different types of cancers, but the prognostic impact of ferroptosis in cutaneous melanoma remains lacking. Therefore, ferroptosis-related genes (FRGs) were firstly obtained from the FerrDb database and the differentially expressed FRGs were identified by the "limma" algorithm. Background: Thrombospondins (THBSs) are glycoproteins expressed in the extracellular matrix (ECM) and have critical roles in tumor development and metastasis. However, the diverse expression patterns and prognostic roles of distinct THBS genes in gastric cancer have not been fully elucidated. In the current study, we aimed to investigate the expression patterns of THBSs in gastric cancer (GC) and determine whether they are prognostic markers for this malignancy.

Methods: Relevant studies were identified in MEDLINE and EMBASE (up until November 1st, 2011). Inclusion criteria were original, peer-reviewed publications, with case-control and cohort studies (for studies on diabetes mellitus and colorectal cancer).

c-Met upregulates aquaporin 3 expression in human gastric carcinoma cells via the ERK signalling pathway.

Aquaporin 3 (AQP3) and c-Met are both overexpressed in human gastric carcinoma and highly associated with its metastasis and invasion. However, it still remains unknown whether c-Met and AQP3 correlate with each other. Herein, we demonstrated that c-Met expression in gastric cancer tissues significantly correlated with differentiation, lymph node metastasis and lymphovascular invasion, and c-Met exhibited marked association with AQP3 expression.

Antitumor activity of mutant bacterial cytosine deaminase gene for colon cancer.

Aim: To evaluate bacterial cytosine deaminase (bCD) mutant D314A and 5-fluorocytosine (5-FC) for treatment of colon cancer in a mouse model.

Methods: Recombinant lentivirus vectors that contained wild-type bCD gene (bCDwt), and bCD mutant D314A gene (bCD-D314A) with green fluorescence protein gene were constructed and used to infect human colon carcinoma LoVo cells, to generate stable transfected cells, LoVo/null, LoVo/bCDwt or LoVo/bCD-D314A. These were injected subcutaneously into Balb/c nude mice to establish xenograft models.
