Common-signal-induced synchronization of semiconductor lasers have promising applications in physical-layer secure transmission with high speed and compatibility with the current fiber communication. Here, we propose an ultra-long-distance laser synchronization scheme by utilizing random digital optical communication signal as the common drive signal. By utilizing the long-haul optical coherent communication techniques, high-fidelity fiber transmission of the digital drive can be achieved and thus ultra-long-distance synchronization is expected.

Major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I load antigens and present them on the cell surface, which transduces the tumor-associated antigens to CD8 T cells, activating the acquired immune system. However, many tumors downregulate MHC I expression to evade immune surveillance. The low expression of MHC I not only reduce recognition by- and cytotoxicity of CD8 T cells, but also seriously weakens the anti-tumor effect of immunotherapy by restoring CD8 T cells, such as immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs).

Tumor cells are characterized by rapid proliferation. In order to provide purines for DNA and RNA synthesis, inosine 5'-monophosphate dehydrogenase (IMPDH), a key enzyme in the de novo guanosine biosynthesis, is highly expressed in tumor cells. In this study we investigated whether IMPDH was involved in cancer immunoregulation.

Numerous preclinical studies have demonstrated the inhibitory function of T cell immunoglobulin mucin domain-containing protein 3 (Tim-3) on T cells as an inhibitory receptor, leading to the clinical development of anti-Tim-3 blocking antibodies. However, recent studies have shown that Tim-3 is expressed not only on T cells but also on multiple cell types in the tumor microenvironment (TME), including dendritic cells (DCs), natural killer (NK) cells, macrophages, and tumor cells. Therefore, Tim-3 blockade in the immune microenvironment not only affect the function of T cells but also influence the functions of other cells.

The intracellular distribution and transportation process are essential for maintaining PD-L1 (programmed death-ligand 1) expression, and intervening in this cellular process may provide promising therapeutic strategies. Here, through a cell-based high content screening, it is found that the ABCB1 (ATP binding cassette subfamily B member 1) modulator zosuquidar dramatically suppresses PD-L1 expression by triggering its autophagic degradation. Mechanistically, ABCB1 interacts with PD-L1 and impairs COP II-mediated PD-L1 transport from ER (endoplasmic reticulum) to Golgi apparatus.

Existing issues with bio-based adhesives, such as complex preparation processes, high energy consumption, and production costs, still need to be addressed. In our study, APTES was grafted onto microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) to generate active aminated cellulose, and then reacted with the epoxide group in glycerol triglycidyl ether (GTE) through a swelling strategy under alkaline solvent, forming a network structure via covalent cross-linking. The adhesive exhibits superior bonding performance and water-resistant property in the bonding strength test of poplar plywood, with a dry shear strength of 2.

Optical chaos communication is a promising secure transmission technique because of the advantages of high speed and compatibility with existing fiber-optic systems. The deterioration of chaotic synchronization quality caused by fiber optic transmission impairments affects the quality of recovery of information, especially high-order modulated signals. Here, we demonstrate that the use of a convolutional neural network (CNN) with a bidirectional long short-term memory (LSTM) layer can reduce the decryption BER in an optical chaos communication system based on common-signal-induced semiconductor laser synchronization.

Aimed at energy conservation and water saving for the lab, we have designed and constructed one kind of lab-scale small recirculating device of cooling water utilizing a water recirculator coupled to a solar energy system via a self-made multifunctional voltage regulator, which is equipped with an active heat radiator and powered by a solar energy system. It can provide cooling water for 1-3 sets of ordinary refluxing setups in series without additional consumption of water and electricity. The temperature difference between the water in the bucket and the environment is less than 4 °C for eight common solvents in single refluxing set-up or three combined refluxing setups with different solvents in series.

Adenosine (Ado) is significantly elevated in the tumor microenvironment (TME) compared to normal tissues. It binds to adenosine receptors (AdoRs), suppressing tumor antigen presentation and immune cell activation, thereby inhibiting tumor adaptive immunity. Ado downregulates major histocompatibility complex II (MHC II) and co-stimulatory factors on dendritic cells (DCs) and macrophages, inhibiting antigen presentation.

We proposed and verified a scheme of chaos synchronization for integrated five-section semiconductor lasers with matching parameters. The simulation results demonstrated that the integrated five-section semiconductor laser could generate a chaotic signal within a large parameter range of the driving currents of five sections. Subsequently, chaos synchronization between two integrated five-section semiconductor lasers with matched parameters was realized by using a common noise signal as a driver.

Diminished or lost Major Histocompatibility Complex class I (MHC-I) expression is frequently observed in tumors, which obstructs the immune recognition of tumor cells by cytotoxic T cells. Restoring MHC-I expression by promoting its transcription and improving protein stability have been promising strategies for reestablishing anti-tumor immune responses. Here, through cell-based screening models, we found that cediranib significantly upregulated MHC-I expression in tumor cells.
