Introduction: The maternal mortality crisis in the United States disproportionately affects women who are Black, especially those living in the Gulf South. These disparities result from a confluence of healthcare, policy, and social factors that systematically place Black women at greater risk of maternal morbidities and mortality. Glioblastoma tumors remain a formidable challenge for immune-based treatments because of their molecular heterogeneity, poor immunogenicity, and growth in the largely isolated and immunosuppressive neural environment. As the tumor grows, GBM cells change the composition and architecture of the neural extracellular matrix (ECM), affecting the mobility, survival, and function of immune cells such as tumor-associated microglia and infiltrated macrophages (TAMs). We have previously described the unique expression of the ECM protein EFEMP1/fibulin-3 in GBM compared to normal brain and demonstrated that this secreted protein promotes the growth of the GBM stem cell (GSC) population.

This study aims to identify a metabolomic signature that facilitates the classification of syncope and the categorization of the unexplained syncope (US) to aid in its management. We compared a control group (CTRL, = 10) with a transient loss of consciousness (TLC) group divided into the OH group ( = 23) for orthostatic syncope, the NMS group ( = 26) for neuromediated syncope, the CS group ( = 9) for cardiological syncope, and the US group ( = 27) for US defined as syncope without a precise categorization after first- and second-level diagnostic approaches. Background: The Chronic Hypertension and Pregnancy Study demonstrated that a target blood pressure of <140/90 mm Hg during pregnancy is associated with improved perinatal outcomes. Outside of pregnancy, pharmacologic therapy for patients with diabetes and hypertension is adjusted to a target blood pressure of <130/80 mm Hg. We measure the tau-to-light-lepton ratio of inclusive B-meson branching fractions R(X_{τ/ℓ})≡B(B→Xτν)/B(B→Xℓν), where ℓ indicates an electron or muon, and thereby test the universality of charged-current weak interactions. We select events that have one fully reconstructed B meson and a charged lepton candidate from 189  fb^{-1} of electron-positron collision data collected with the Belle II detector.
