The misplacement of electrodes for surface electrocardiogram (ECG) recording that we use daily as a reference for mapping precise locations in invasive procedures may, besides inducing diagnostical mistakes, greatly increase the duration of the procedure and making more feasible the incidence of complications, especially in ablation of arrhythmic substrates of ventricular outflow tracts such as premature ventricular contractions (PVC's) and accessory pathways, if the right precordial electrodes (V1-V3) are higher positioned.

Informal caregiving is an integral component of the health care system, saving the national economy more than $522 billion annually. The current study examined how the association between caregiving intensity and caregiver quality of life varies by sociodemographic factors through a secondary analysis of the National Study of Caregiving. Genome-wide association studies (GWASs) have identified loci for erythrocyte traits in primarily European ancestry populations. We conducted GWAS meta-analyses of six erythrocyte traits in 71,638 individuals from European, East Asian, and African ancestries using a Bayesian approach to account for heterogeneity in allelic effects and variation in the structure of linkage disequilibrium between ethnicities. We identified seven loci for erythrocyte traits including a locus (RBPMS/GTF2E2) associated with mean corpuscular hemoglobin and mean corpuscular volume.

Background: Early surgical intervention in the treatment of proximal femur fractures has been shown to significantly reduce mortality and complications.
