The prosperity and development of tannery industry have brought about rapid economic growth. However, the tannery landfill without anti-seepage measures in the early stage has generated masses of environmental hazards owing to the lack of awareness in environmental protection. A bacterium, designated strain CM134L-2, was isolated from a chitin-enriched wheat leaf microbiome in Chengdu, Sichuan province, China. It was Gram-stain-negative, strictly aerobic, non-spore-forming, motile, rod-shaped, and bright yellow in colour. Strain CM134L-2 grew at 4-35 °C, at pH 6.
