The reliable long-distance transmission of electromagnetic wave signals within goaf is fundamental for the implementation of wireless monitoring and early warning systems for goaf-related disasters. This paper establishes an experimental platform for electromagnetic wave signal transmission within goaf and develops a propagation model for electromagnetic waves in the porous media of goaf. The transmission characteristics of electromagnetic waves at various frequencies within the porous media environment of goaf are investigated through experimental and numerical simulation approaches.

We aimed to investigate whether early clinical indicators were associated with eventual disease severity, and to develop a predictive model for severe asparaginase-associated pancreatitis (AAP). Seventy-five acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) cases with AAP admitted to Shanghai Children's Medical Center from March 2013 to August 2023 were divided into non-severe (n = 44) and severe (n = 31) groups based on Atlanta diagnostic and AAP grading criteria. Eosinophilic gastroenteritis (EGE) is an inflammatory disease characterized by a significant increase in eosinophils. EGE itself is rare, and cases with clinical manifestations of hemorrhagic ascites are even rarer, which undoubtedly increases the risk of misdiagnosis. Given this, this study reports a rare case of pediatric EGE presenting with paroxysmal abdominal pain without apparent cause, accompanied by acute tonsillitis and mesenteric lymphadenitis, suggesting a possible intestinal infection.

To guarantee the secure functioning of the complete power system and minimize the risks associated with oil-filled transformers during their operation, it is greatly important to carry out gas sensing studies of dissolved gases in transformer research. Through the utilization of first-principles density functional theory calculations, the adsorption energy, electronic characteristics, and recuperation duration of ZrS modified with Sc and Ti were examined. The results show that compared to those of the initial ZrS material, the doping of TM atoms Sc and Ti significantly improved the adsorption properties of the material, and the adsorption of CO and CH showed chemisorption.

Although stroke is a frequent cause of permanent disability, our ability to promote stroke recovery is limited. Here, we design a small-molecule stroke recovery promoting agent that works by dissociating γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) transporter 1 (GAT-1) from syntaxin1A (Synt1A), a soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor attachment protein receptor (SNARE) protein. Stroke induces an increase in GAT-1-Synt1A interaction in the subacute phase, a critical period for functional recovery.

Development of affordable catalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) represents a central task for advancing electrochemical systems such as fuel cells and metal-air batteries. This study reported the ORR and HER performance of a set of single cluster catalysts (SCCs) with atomically dispersed 3d/4d/5d transition metal cluster (TM) embedded in a two-dimensional (2D) defective CrSe substrate. Distinguishing from the conventional SCCs with positive charge active center, the unique electronegativity discrepancy between the metal clusters and the substrate renders the active center controllable charge states from negative to positive.

Large skin wounds, with extensive surface area and deep vertical full-thickness involvement, can pose significant challenges in clinical settings. Traditional routes for repairing skin wounds encompass three hallmarks: 1) scab formation for hemostasis; 2) proliferation and migration of epidermal cells for wound closure; 3) proliferation, migration, and functionalization of fibroblasts and endothelial cells for dermal remodeling. However, this route face remarkable challenges to healing large wounds, usually leading to disordered structures and loss of functions in the regenerated skin, due to limited control on the transition among the three stages.

Weak doping can broaden, shift, and quench plasmon peaks in nanoparticles, but the mechanistic intricacies of the diverse responses to doping remain unclear. In this study, we used the time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) to compute the excitation properties of transition-metal Pd- or Pt-doped gold and silver atomic arrays and investigate the evolution characteristics and response mechanisms of their plasmon peaks. The results demonstrated that the Pd or Pt doping of the off-centered 10 × 2 atomic arrays broadened or shifted the plasmon peaks to varying degrees.

Cadmium (Cd) is a leading environmental issue worldwide. The current study was conducted to investigate Cd tolerance of 10 commercial white clover (Trifolium repens) cultivars during seed germination and to further explore differences in lipid remodelling, glycometabolism, and the conversion of lipids into sugars contributing to Cd tolerance in the early phase of seedling establishment as well as the accumulation of Cd in seedlings and mature plants. The results show that Cd stress significantly reduced seed germination of 10 cultivars.
