Pathological vascular remodeling (VR) is characterized by structural and functional alterations in the vascular wall resulting from injury, which significantly contribute to the development of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). The vascular wall consists primarily of endothelial cells (ECs), vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs), and adventitial fibroblasts (AFs), whose interactions are crucial for both the formation of the vascular system and the maintenance of mature blood vessels. Disruptions in the communication between these cell types have been implicated in the progression of VR.

Article Synopsis
  • Recent studies indicate that endovascular treatment (EVT) alone is as effective as combining intravenous thrombolysis with EVT (IVT + EVT) for treating acute ischemic stroke due to large-vessel occlusion, although some research suggests specific patient subgroups may benefit more from IVT.
  • This study analyzed data from 238 patients who underwent EVT or IVT + EVT to determine how collateral circulation affects clinical outcomes, using various statistical methods to control for factors like age and stroke severity.
  • Findings revealed that patients with good collateral circulation had significantly better outcomes at 90 days, including lower disability scores, higher success rates of recanalization, and reduced rates of complications such as hemorrhage and mortality.

Triethylamine, an extensively used material in industrial organic synthesis, is hazardous to the human respiratory and nervous systems, but its accurate detection and prediction has been a long-standing challenge. Herein, a machine learning-motivated chemiresistive sensor that can predict ppm-level triethylamine is designed. The zero-dimensional (0D) bismuth vanadate (BiVO) nanoparticles were anchored on the surface of three-dimensional (3D) tungsten oxide (WO) architectures to form hierarchical BiVO/WO heterostructures, which demonstrates remarkable triethylamine-sensing performance such as high response of 21 (4 times higher than pristine WO) at optimal temperature of 190 °C, low detection limit of 57 ppb, long-term stability, reproducibility and good anti-interference property.

The strong metal-support interactions (SMSI) can profoundly affect the electronic state of platinum (Pt) cocatalysts, which plays a dominant role for photocatalytic activity in the supported photocatalysts. However, the conventional Pt/g-CN photocatalysts usually shows negligible SMSI effect because of the lack of the reducible species. Herein, we demonstrate that the linker engineering of UiO66-type MOFs can effectively strengthen the SMSI and optimize the electron density of Pt nanoparticles on g-CN nanosheets.

We propose a programmable topological metasurface to integrate intelligent modulations of spatial and surface waves. A general design method is presented to design the programmable metasurface elements with PIN diodes. The surface waves can be controlled to propagate along the topological domain-wall interface by programming the C-symmetry elements, while the spatial waves are modulated by the patterns of C-symmetry elements.
