Background: Ovarian Cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer death among women worldwide and the therapeutic landscape to treat it is constantly evolving. One of the major points of decision for the treatment choice is the presence of some genomic alterations that could confer sensitivity to the new available therapies including inhibitors of poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARPi) with BRCA1 and 2 genes playing the most important role.
Methods And Results: We performed the search for any somatic and/or germline alteration in patient's samples by next generation sequencing (NGS).
Background: The hospitals' volume, specialization, availability of all oncological services, and experience in performing complex surgeries have a favorable impact on gastric cancer (GC) treatment.
Aims: The aim of this study was to compare the results of GC treatment according to the type of oncological hospital in the State of São Paulo.
Methods: Patients diagnosed with GC between 2000 and 2022 in qualified hospitals for cancer treatment were evaluated by data extracted from the hospital cancer registry.
A 73-year-old male with left hip prosthesis infection performed a Tc HMPAO-labelled autologous WBC (WBC) scan to evaluate the response to antibiotic therapy. Since the early planar scan, an area of increased activity was visible extending from the left groin region to the ipsilateral flank. At late planar images, the area progressively focused in the left groin, site of a painful inguinal hernia.

Previously, we reported an active CCR6 structure in complex with its cognate chemokine CCL20, revealing the molecular basis of CCR6 activation. Here, we present two inactive CCR6 structures in ternary complexes with different allosteric antagonists, CCR6/SQA1/OXM1 and CCR6/SQA1/OXM2.

Conventional insecticides are frequently used to reduce infestations, but these are often with a limited residual effect, besides being costly and detrimental to nontarget organisms and the environment. In integrated pest management, novel strategies against H.

Background: The study of health-related quality of life in survivors of gynecologic cancers is becoming increasingly important as 1.5 million survivors of gynecologic cancer in the United States and more are expected due to advances in diagnosis and treatment. This project investigated the perceived needs and lived experiences of survivors of gynecological cancer to help design supportive activities to be implemented in clinical practice.

This study aimed to validate an AI algorithm for identifying and quantifying prognostic factors in visual recovery after macular hole (MH) surgery by analyzing major optical coherence tomography (OCT) biomarkers. This study included 20 patients who underwent vitrectomy for a full-thickness macular hole (FTMH).

Waiting time for chemotherapy infusion is a fundamental factor to measure quality of care. It has been shown that a prolonged waiting time is related to a higher incidence of anticipatory nausea and poor patient adherence to scheduled appointments and recommended oncology treatment programs. Some chemotherapy regimens can be prepared hours ahead-of-time, due to long stability.

Some international recommendations suggest that genetic testing should be offered for all newly diagnosed epithelial ovarian cancer, along with HRD assessment. Academic tests (ATs) are continuously under development, in order to break down the barriers patients encounter in accessing HRD testing.

Background And Aim: Celiac disease is a risk factor for osteopenia and osteoporosis. Our aim was to evaluate the possible correlation between villous atrophy extension and dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA)-derived parameters of bone status.
Methods: We have retrospectively analyzed data of 47 celiac patients (36 women, 52 ± 14 years of age) who underwent video capsule endoscopy and DXA scans within 1 year of interval from 2006 to 2019.
Introduction And Aim: Usually, adherence to the gluten-free diet (GFD) in celiac patients is indirectly assessed through serological analysis, questionnaires, or invasive methods such as intestinal biopsy. The detection of gluten immunogenic peptides in urine (urinary gluten immunogenic peptides-uGIP) is a novel technique that directly evaluates the ingestion of gluten. The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical efficacy of uGIP in the follow-up of celiac disease (CD).

The main objective of this study was to assess the feasibility of FR in a population of inpatients in a palliative care unit (PCU).The precariousness of the patients led us to perform a feasibility study and not a cohort study from the outset.

Inspired by the unanticipated bound conformation of an acyclic sulfonamide-based RORC2 ligand from cocrystal structure analysis, macrocyclic linker connections between the halves of the molecule were explored. Further optimization of analogues was accomplished to maximize potency and refine physiochemical properties (MW, lipophilicity) best suited for topical application.

However, prognostic factors relevant to their outcome with ARPIs are still little investigated. The Meet-URO network ADHERE was a prospective multicentre observational cohort study evaluating and monitoring adherence to ARPIs metastatic castrate-resistant PC (mCRPC) patients aged ≥70.

Introduction: Endometrial cancer can be characterized by high instability of microsatellites (MSI-H), a biomarker indicative of sensibility to immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs). The results of the KEYNOTE-158 trial led to the approval of pembrolizumab - a monoclonal, humanized IgG4 kappa anti-PD-1 antibody able to prevent T-cell PD-1/tumor cell PD-L1/2 interaction, thus restoring T-cell-mediated anti-tumor immunity - in MSI-H endometrial cancer relapsing after at least one line of chemotherapy (CT).
Areas Covered: Ongoing trials, such as KEYNOTE-B21/ENGOT-en11, KEYNOTE-C93/ENGOT-en15/GOG-3064, and NRG/GY018, aim to move this option earlier in the algorithm, whether adjuvant or first-line, even CT-free.
Objectives: Refractory celiac disease (RCeD) is a rare complication of celiac disease (CeD) with a severe prognosis. We describe a cohort of patients with RCeD, their clinical and histological features at diagnosis, after therapy and at lymphoma onset, and the rate and causes of death over a 17-year follow-up.
Methods: We retrospectively enrolled RCeD-I and RCeD-II patients attending our center between January 2002 and October 2019.
Background: A gluten-free diet (GFD) is the main therapy for non-coeliac gluten sensitivity (NCGS). However, the availability of novel enzymes with the ability to digest gluten could represent a therapeutic opportunity for NCGS patients to avoid a GFD.
Aims: To evaluate the controlled reintroduction of gluten with or without the endopeptidase P1016 in NCGS patients.
Background: Novel androgen receptor signaling inhibitors for prostate cancer (PC) impose the burden of self-administration on older patients overwhelmed by the requirement of many other concomitant medications.
Patients And Methods: This study evaluated the proportion of non-adherence in a 12-month follow-up period and the first 3 months to abiraterone (ABI) or enzalutamide (ENZ). In a prospective multicenter observational cohort study, patients with metastatic castration-resistant PC (mCRPC) aged ≥70 years receiving ABI or ENZ pre- or post-docetaxel were enrolled.
Despite following a gluten-free diet, which is currently the only effective therapy for celiac disease, about 5% of patients can develop serious complications, which in the case of refractory type 2 could evolve towards intestinal lymphoma. In this study, we have identified a set of 15 microRNAs in serum discriminating between the two types of refractory disease. Upregulated miR-770-5p, miR-181b-2-3p, miR-1193, and miR-1226-3p could be useful for the better stratification of patients and the monitoring of disease development, while miR-490-3p was found to be dysregulated in patients with refractory type 1.
