Methods: We recruited survivors of hematological malignancies (≥ 3 years after diagnosis) from two cancer registries in Germany. We applied validated instruments and study-specific items on satisfaction with partnership, sexual functioning, and fertility-related communication with physicians.
Background: During eye development the lens placode invaginates to form the lens pit. Further bending of lens epithelium and separation from ectoderm leads eventually to a spherical lens vesicle with enclosed extracellular fluid. View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Recovery housing plays an important role in supporting individuals in their recovery by building recovery capital and providing stable living environments; however, the extent to which medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD), the gold standard for OUD treatment, are accepted in recovery housing settings is unclear. The purpose of this study, as part of a larger statewide evaluation of Missouri recovery homes, was to identify the extent to which Missouri recovery houses were accepting of methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone as well as the extent to which the acceptance of each medication was linked to whether the recovery home encouraged tapering off MOUDs.
Methods: Sixty-four recovery housing managers and/or staff, out of 66 eligible recovery homes in Missouri completed the survey.
The primary goal of this study is the formulation of a soft sensor that predicts industrially relevant mechanical properties for freeform bending. This serves as the foundation of a closed-loop property control. It is hypothesized that by inline measurement of hardness, predictions regarding residual hoop stresses, local strength and strain level can be achieved.

We studied the activity of TG02 in 9 human long-term glioma cell lines (LTC) and 5 glioma-initiating cell lines (GIC) using various cell death assays in vitro and in the LN-229 LTC and ZH-161 GIC models in vivo. TG02 exhibits strong anti-tumor cell activity with EC concentrations in the nanomolar range.

The risk of induction of contact allergy in consumers was determined using a method based upon the Exposure-based Quantitative Risk Assessment approach developed for fragrance ingredients.

Interleukin 17 (IL-17) is a potent pro-inflammatory cytokine that exhibits relevant effects during inflammation in the peripheral nervous system (PNS), and IL-17-secreting cells have been reported within the endoneurium in proximity to the SCs.
Methods: Here, we analyzed the effects of IL-17 on myelination and the immunological properties of SCs.
Triple differential cross section measurements for the electron-impact ionization of the highest occupied molecular orbitals of tetrahydropyran and 1,4-dioxane are presented. For each molecule, experimental measurements were performed using the (e,2e) technique in asymmetric coplanar kinematics with an incident electron energy of 250 eV and an ejected electron energy of 20 eV. With the scattered electrons being detected at -5°, the angular distributions of the ejected electrons in the binary and recoil regions were observed.

The experimental and theoretical results are compared with He ionization under the same conditions. The results indicate that the ejected electron angular distribution for H(2) is modified due to Young-type interference between ionization amplitudes for scattering from the two centers in the hydrogen molecule.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFWe recently reported that activation of the highly efficient phospholipase C (PLC) stimulatory m3 muscarinic acetylcholine receptor (mAChR) can induce a long-lasting Gi-mediated heterologous potentiation of PLC stimulation in human embryonic kidney (HEK) 293 cells, which was accompanied by an increased cellular level of the PLC substrate phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate [PtdIns(4,5)P2]. Here, we examined whether such a potentiated PLC response is also induced by the rather poorly PLC stimulatory m2 mAChR and the endogenously expressed purinergic and lysophosphatidic acid receptors. Pretreatment of m2 mAChR-expressing HEK 293 cells for 2 min with carbachol, followed by agonist washout and measurement of PLC activity >/=40 min later, caused a long-lasting (up to approximately 90 min) heterologous potentiation of receptor- and G protein-mediated PLC stimulation.
