Inferior vena cava (IVC) filters are indicated for the management of venous thromboembolism in patients who are not candidates for anticoagulation, have a contraindication to anticoagulation or who have recurrent thromboembolism despite anticoagulation. Atomically thin tungsten disulfide (WS2) has attracted much attention in recent years due its indirect-to-direct band gap transition, band gap tunability, and giant spin splitting. However, the fabrication of atomically thin WS2 remains largely underdeveloped in comparison to its structural analogue MoS2. Here we report the direct fabrication of highly crystalline few-layer WS2 on silver substrates by pulse laser deposition at the relatively low temperature of 450 °C.

Copper-catalyzed highly efficient hydrosilylation reaction of enynoates was developed. Under simple reaction conditions, various di-, tri-, and tetrasubstituted racemic allene products could be obtained in high yields. The asymmetric 1,6-addition of silyl group to the (Z)-2-alken-4-ynoates could be achieved under mild reaction conditions to afford the silyl-substituted enantioenriched chiral allene products in good yields and with high enantioselectivities.

An efficient and selective Rh-catalyzed direct CH functionalization reaction of enol phosphates was developed. The method is applicable to a variety of coupling partners, including activated alkenes, alkynes, and allenes, and leads to the formation of various valuable alkenylated and hydroalkenylated enol phosphates through the action of the phosphate directing group. The versatility and utility of the coupling products were demonstrated through further transformations into synthetically useful building blocks.

We recently reported a novel interaction between Bcl-2 and Rac1 and linked that to the ability of Bcl-2 to induce a pro-oxidant state in cancer cells. Lewis acid B(C6F5)3 catalyzed the Diels-Alder reactions of multisubstituted open-chain dienes and α,β-enals to afford the desired products with high exo-selectivities are reported. The substituent effect of the dienes and dienophiles on the product's stereoselectivity was thoroughly investigated, and it was found that most of the desired exo-Diels-Alder products could be obtained in good yields and with high exo-stereoselectivities.

U2 snRNP auxiliary factor 65 kDa (U2AF(65)) is a general splicing factor that contacts polypyrimidine (Py) tract and promotes prespliceosome assembly. In this report, we show that U2AF(65) stimulates alternative exon skipping in spinal muscular atrophy (SMA)-related survival motor neuron (SMN) pre-mRNA. A stronger 5' splice-site mutation of alternative exon abolishes the stimulatory effects of U2AF(65).
