A holistic approach is pertinent in managing obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). It goes beyond integrated multidisciplinary assessment and management in the hospital setting. Although clinicians should be aware of different treatment modalities and adjunctive measures, proactive management of OSA is as important.

The genus Borrelia, originally described by Swellengrebel in 1907, contains tick- or louse-transmitted spirochetes belonging to the relapsing fever (RF) group of spirochetes, the Lyme borreliosis (LB) group of spirochetes and spirochetes that form intermittent clades. In 2014 it was proposed that the genus Borrelia should be separated into two genera; Borrelia Swellengrebel 1907 emend. Adeolu and Gupta 2014 containing RF spirochetes and Borreliella Adeolu and Gupta 2014 containing LB group of spirochetes.

Methods And Results: We studied 10 363 patients in a population-based prospective HF registry (2008-2012), segregated into clusters based on their 3-year HF readmission frequency trajectories. Using receiver-operating characteristic analysis, we identified the index year readmission frequency threshold that most accurately predicts HF admission frequency clusters.
Following publication of the article, Dr. Roberta Tufi of the Mitochondrial Biology Unit at the University of Cambridge was concerned to note that her own contribution to the study during her postdoc in Leicester at the MRC Toxicology Unit had not been acknowledged. Specifically, the data in Fig.

Cardiac fibroblasts have been identified as an important participant in the development of cardiac fibrosis. Exposure of cultured cardiac fibroblasts to high glucose resulted in increased collagen synthesis.

Recent studies from our lab have shown that two plant hormones, auxin and jasmonic acid, influence microalgae growth and fatty acid accumulation. Therefore, in this study, a high oil-producing strain Chlorella vulgaris UMT-M1 was selected for hormonal study using gibberellin (GA).

To elucidate the mechanisms of many diseases associated with melanocytes, such as melanoma and albinism, or burns with uneven pigment distribution, the disease model needs to be established first. In this study, we aimed to construct the melanocyte model from patients in a short period.

In fact, monocytes regulate immunity through dynamic networks of survival and cellular apoptosis as well as thrombomodulin (TM)-associated differenciiation. Whether CPB affects the plasma level of eotaxin-2, a potent chemoattractant, or stimulates monocyte apoptosis among patients undergoing elective coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery is also unknown.

Each case represents ongoing transmission and has a significant public health burden. We aim to examine the clinical profile of paediatric TB and compare pulmonary TB (PTB) with extrapulmonary TB (EPTB) in Singapore.

More recently, the paradigm of genome editing technologies has evolved to include the correction of mutations that cause diseases via the use of nucleases such as zinc-finger nucleases (ZFN), transcription activator-like effector nucleases (TALENs), and more recently, Cas9 nuclease. With the aim of reversing disease phenotypes, which arise from somatic gene mutations, current research focuses on the clinical translatability of correcting human genetic diseases in vivo, to provide long-term therapeutic benefits and potentially circumvent the limitations of in vivo cell replacement therapy.

Low awareness coupled with stigma and erroneous beliefs delay help-seeking behaviours, lead to late presentation and contribute to poor detection rates. Promoting cancer awareness through mass media may be effective in improving cancer-related knowledge and uptake in screening tests.

We report a case of an 88-year-old frail woman with severe symptomatic AS referred for TAVR with demonstration of a large thrombus in the descending thoracic aorta immediately distal to the left subclavian artery. Given concerns of thrombus embolization with femoral advancement of the transcatheter valve, coverage with a thoracic aortic endograft was planned immediately prior to the TAVR.

In this study, Sylgard 309 and three different types of additives for CPE, namely CPE-Sylgard, CPE-Sylgard-BMIMBr and CPE-Sylgard-GLDA, are investigated to extract methylphenol from water samples. The methylphenols are well separated by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with isocratic elution of acetonitrile : water; 60 : 40 (v/v) and detection at 260 nm.

Methods: A search of the public domain databases MEDLINE, SCOPUS, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library Databases was performed to identify studies related to the use of the transradial approach for infra-aortic procedures. Meta-analysis was used to compare the transradial to the transfemoral route in terms of procedure success, complications, procedure parameters, and hospital length of stay.

Natural landscape alterations as a consequence of urbanisation are one of the main drivers in the movements of wildlife into metropolitan and peri-urban areas. Worldwide, these wildlife species are highly adaptable and may be responsible for the transmission of tick-borne pathogens including piroplasms (, and spp.) that cause piroplasmosis in animals and occasionally in humans.

Methods: OEC-M1 cells were a gift from Tri-Service General Hospital. Changes of pHi were detected by microspectrofluroimetry with a pH-sensitive fluorescent dye, BCECF.
The field screening effect on the field-emission properties of armchair graphene nanoribbons (AGNRs) under strain has been studied using first-principles calculations with local density approximation (LDA). Using the zone folding method with the effect of a dipole barrier along with the work function of strained graphene, we can obtain the work function of AGNR of any width under strain, confirmed with the LDA calculations. We have systematically investigated the effects of inter-ribbon distance and ribbon width on the work function of AGNR arrays.

We sought to understand the mechanism of this regulation and to translate these findings preclinically.
