In the present study, biopolymer (chitosan and alginate)-reinforced rhamnolipid nanoparticles were prepared and represented as 'ALG-RHLP-NPs' and 'CHI-RHLP-NPs'. The sizes of the nanoparticles ranged from 150 to 300 nm. The encapsulation efficiencies of ALG-RHLP-NPs and CHI-RHLP-NPs were found to be 81.

Effective disease management practices thus need to be developed and implemented to prevent further spread and damage caused by f. sp.

Recombinant mHA viruses were constructed by replacing the four major antigenic sites of influenza B virus HAs, with those from exotic avian influenza A virus HAs. Sequential vaccination of naïve mice with mHA-based vaccines elicited higher immune responses towards the immuno-subdominant conserved epitopes of the HA than vaccination with wildtype viruses.

Given the constant changes in the viral glycoproteins owing to antigenic drift, seasonal influenza vaccines need to be updated periodically and effectiveness often drops due to mismatches between vaccine and circulating strains. In addition, seasonal influenza vaccines are not protective against antigenically shifted influenza viruses with pandemic potential.

However, the recombinant protein alone is not sufficient to induce durable and protective immune responses and requires the coadministration of immunostimulatory molecules. Here, we evaluated the immunogenicity and cross-protective potential of a recombinant influenza virus N2 neuraminidase vaccine construct, adjuvanted with a toll-like receptor 9 (TLR9) agonist (CpG 1018® adjuvant), and alum.

Strong relationships between patients and providers have been linked to more compassionate care delivery, and better patient experience and outcomes, and may be particularly important in primary care. The rapid adoption of digital technologies since the onset of COVID-19 has led health care systems to seriously consider a "digital-first" primary care delivery model.

There are two major glycoproteins on the influenza virion surface: hemagglutinin (HA), which is responsible for viral attachment and entry, and neuraminidase (NA), which mediates viral egress by enzymatically cleaving sialic acid to release budding particles from the host cell surface. Broadly neutralizing antibodies (bNAbs) that target the conserved HA central stalk region, such as CR9114, can inhibit both viral entry and egress.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe head domain of the hemagglutinin of influenza viruses plays a dominant role in the antibody response due to the presence of immunodominant antigenic sites that are the main targets of host neutralizing antibodies. For the H1 hemagglutinin, five major antigenic sites defined as Sa, Sb, Ca1, Ca2, and Cb have been described. Although previous studies have focused on defining the hierarchy of the antigenic sites of the hemagglutinin in different human cohorts, it is still unclear if the immunodominance profile of the antigenic sites might change with the antibody levels of individuals or if other demographic factors (such as exposure history, sex, or age) could also influence the importance of the antigenic sites.

This study aimed to determine the effect of pharmacists' medication reviews on geriatric patients. This study accessed two online databases, MEDLINE Complete and Scopus, and examined all studies published in English between 2019 and 2023, except for reviews.

It allows for the production of recombinant glycoproteins, which are used as antigens in vaccination studies and as reagents in immunological assays. Here, we describe the process of recombinant glycoprotein production using the baculovirus/insect cell expression system.

Because of antigenic drift/change in the immunodominant hemagglutinin (HA) head domain, annual vaccine reformulations are necessary to maintain a match with circulating strains. In addition, seasonal vaccines provide little to no protection against newly emerging pandemic strains.

Contingency management (CM) for smoking cessation is an intervention wherein financial incentives are provided contingent on biochemically verified smoking abstinence. Conventional CM programs typically require frequent clinic visits for abstinence monitoring, a potential obstacle for patients with medical comorbidities who may face barriers to access.

It showed an increased incidence during the pandemic situation, which may be due to long hours of exposure to electronic gadgets. We aimed to find the prevalence of dry eye disease among medical students during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic and pre-pandemic periods.

The lysosomal storage disorders are associated with a varied ocular manifestation including bilateral corneal clouding which is often mild and stippled except in few cases like Hunter syndrome where cornea is often clear. We report a case of MPS Type I S (MPS 1) with near-normal visual acuity and bilateral dense corneal clouding with sparing of central 3 mm of cornea.

We have previously shown that the Bacterial Enzymatic Combinatorial Chemistry (BECC) adjuvants, BECC438 and BECC470, formulated with an influenza virus hemagglutinin (HA) protein vaccine, offer greater protection from influenza virus challenge in mouse respiratory models using adult mice than standard HA:adjuvant combinations. In this study, we determined that immunization with HA + BECC adjuvants also significantly broadened the epitopes targeted on HA as compared with other adjuvants, resulting in increased titers of antibodies directed against the highly conserved HA stalk domain.

To tackle this engagement issue, when developing an mHealth program, it is important to understand the social-behavioral factors that affect patients' use behavior.
Objective: The aim of this study was to explore the social and behavioral factors contributing to patients' use behavior of an mHealth app called the electronic Patient-Reported Outcome (ePRO).
Purpose: The current study aims to evaluate gender variations in the efferent auditory system functioning in the ANSD population and compare them to normal hearing persons using contralateral suppression of spontaneous OAE (SOAEs).
Methods: For the current study, a total of 54 ears were considered prospectively. 27 ears with normal hearing (NH) sensitivity were in group I, while 27 ears with ANSD were in group II.
Messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccines represent a new, effective vaccine platform with high capacity for rapid development. Generation of a universal influenza virus vaccine with the potential to elicit long-lasting, broadly cross-reactive immune responses is a necessity for reducing influenza-associated morbidity and mortality. Here we focus on the development of a universal influenza B virus vaccine based on the lipid nanoparticle-encapsulated nucleoside-modified mRNA (mRNA-LNP) platform.

The initial and final concentration of CV was measured using UV-Vis spectrometer.
