Article Synopsis
  • Scientists are exploring sustainable methods to produce nanoparticles using marine resources, particularly focusing on seaweed extracts for synthesizing silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs).
  • Seaweed extracts contain bioactive substances that effectively reduce silver ions to form Ag NPs, which are found to enhance the anti-inflammatory properties of the extracts.
  • The study involved mixing seaweed with distilled water, adding silver nitrate, and using centrifugation and vacuum drying, resulting in a color change that confirmed the successful synthesis of Ag NPs.

Belatacept is a novel T-cell costimulation blockade agent that has unresolved controversy in lung transplant recipients. Belatacept has been recognized as a calcineurin sparing agent for solid organ transplant recipients after reported success in renal transplant patients, despite limited evidence in other transplant recipients. We present the first case of a lung transplant recipient receiving Belatacept, in combination with low dose calcineurin inhibitor, who developed progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy.

Spinocerebellar Ataxia type-12 (SCA12) is a neurodegenerative disease caused by tandem CAG repeat expansion in the 5'-UTR/non-coding region of . Molecular pathology of SCA12 has not been studied in the context of CAG repeats, and no appropriate models exist. We found in human SCA12-iPSC-derived neuronal lineage that expanded CAG in transcript forms nuclear RNA foci and were found to sequester variety of proteins.

Background: Post-prandial hyperglycemia (PPHG) remains a complex aspect in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in the Indian population due to uncertainty in the optimal utilization of alpha-glucosidase inhibitors (AGIs) either as standalone therapy or in combination, whether initiated initially or as a sequential therapy.

Methods: This was a post-approval, observational, multicentric clinical study conducted at 50 centers according to principles of the International Council for Harmonisation of Technical Requirements of Pharmaceuticals for Human Use Guideline for Good Clinical Practice (ICH-GCP) and Declaration of Helsinki and local ethics approval. Descriptive and analytical statistics were applied for conclusion and categorical variables using SPSS version 29.

Article Synopsis
  • In European forests, tree species form partnerships with ectomycorrhizal (EM) and arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi, which help in nutrient acquisition through specific fungal structures.
  • A study analyzed mycorrhizal communities under 23 tree species across different climates and soil types, finding that the types of EM fungi were related to the humus forms of the soil.
  • The research highlights how factors like past land use, tree species traits, and soil depth affect fungal community structure, suggesting that understanding these relationships can enhance models predicting forest soil functions and tree nutrient adaptation.

Environmental monitoring of mercury (Hg) ions has become increasingly important as a result of their detrimental effects on biological organisms at all levels. To recognize toxic metal ions, utmost effort has been devoted to developing new materials that are highly selective, ultra-sensitive, and provide rapid response. In this context, a new chemosensor, 2-imino [N - (N-amido phenyl)]-6-methoxy-3-carbethoxy quinoline (L), has been synthesized by combining 2-formyl-6-methoxy-3-carbethoxy quinoline and benzhydrazide and it has been extensively characterized by NMR, FTIR, ESI-Mass and SCXRD analysis.

Vegetation resilience is critical for understanding the dynamic feedback effect of regional ecological environment stability against interferences. Thus, based on quantify the interferences of climate dryness and vegetation water deficit affecting vegetation growth function, incorporate mechanical Hooke's law to develop a vegetation resilience assessment model by quantitatively expressing vegetation growth function maintenance ability, to reveal the ecological environment stability and its feedback effect on interferences in the study area. The essential discoveries of the study are as follows: (1) with the increase of precipitation and the improvement of afforestation on soil erosion, the interferences intensity of climate dryness and vegetation water deficit in the ecological environment decreased by 5.

Article Synopsis
  • Scientists are discovering how the interaction between water and certain molecules can make hydrogen production better.
  • In a study, they used a special technique to show that water and hydroxyl groups (OH) work together at an interface, helping to improve the hydrogen production process.
  • Their findings also indicate that changing the design of the materials can further boost this process, suggesting that making small adjustments could lead to more efficient ways to create hydrogen.

Sinonasal angiomatous polyp (SAP) is a benign pseudoneoplastic lesion rarely reported in the literature. It may be misdiagnosed as a malignant neoplasm due to its aggressive features of bone erosion clinically or on imaging. We report the case of a 43-year-old woman with a 3 month history of unilateral nasal obstruction with recurrent epistaxis.

Background: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic inflammatory and demyelinating disease of the CNS. An intrathecal IgM synthesis is associated with a more rapid progression of MS and the intrathecal immune response to measles -, rubella -and varicella zoster virus (MRZR) which, if present, increases the likelihood of a diagnosis of MS in adults.

Objective: To evaluate the frequency of an intrathecal IgM synthesis and MRZR in children with MS.

Introduction: Hip fractures cause severe pain during positioning for spinal anesthesia (SA). Intravenous systemic analgesics can lead to various complications in elderly patients, hence peripheral nerve blocks are emerging as a standard of care in pain management for hip fractures, among which femoral nerve block (FNB) is widely known and practiced. Pericapsular nerve group (PENG) block is a recently described technique that blocks the articular nerves of the hip with motor-sparing effects and is used to manage positional pain in hip fractures.
