Intra-abdominal lymphangioma, a rare benign lymphatic malformation resulting from an obstruction to lymphatic channels, often has non-specific clinical manifestations. Low incidence rates of this condition, paired with its unusual presentation and ambiguous radiological appearance, commonly lead to diagnostic uncertainty. This pathology can result in significant morbidity and mortality, emphasising the need to achieve early diagnosis and management despite these challenges.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have revolutionized cancer therapy by enhancing the ability of the immune system to combat malignancies. Nivolumab and cemiplimab, monoclonal antibodies targeting programmed cell death protein 1, have exhibited notable therapeutic efficacy; however, they are associated with immune-related adverse events (irAEs). The present study describes the cases of 2 patients, a 71-year-old male with metastatic esophageal adenocarcinoma and a 66-year-old female with metastatic squamous cell carcinoma who developed acute/subacute onset rapidly progressive myositis/myasthenia gravis (MG) following treatment with nivolumab and cemiplimab.

Unlabelled: Generalized linear models (GLMs) are very widely used, but formal goodness-of-fit (GOF) tests for the overall fit of the model seem to be in wide use only for certain classes of GLMs. We develop and apply a new goodness-of-fit test, similar to the well-known and commonly used Hosmer-Lemeshow (HL) test, that can be used with a wide variety of GLMs. The test statistic is a variant of the HL statistic, but we rigorously derive an asymptotically correct sampling distribution using methods of Stute and Zhu (Scand J Stat 29(3):535-545, 2002) and demonstrate its consistency.

The term nanodisk refers to a discrete type of nanoparticle comprised of a bilayer forming lipid, a scaffold protein, and an integrated bioactive agent. Nanodisks are organized as a disk-shaped lipid bilayer whose perimeter is circumscribed by the scaffold protein, usually a member of the exchangeable apolipoprotein family. Numerous hydrophobic bioactive agents have been efficiently solubilized in nanodisks by their integration into the hydrophobic milieu of the particle's lipid bilayer, yielding a largely homogenous population of particles in the range of 10-20 nm in diameter.

Outbreaks are simulated over the course of one semester across numerous parameter settings, including moving classes above certain size thresholds online. In the 2013-2014 and 2015-2016 influenza seasons, live attenuated influenza vaccine (LAIV) generated reduced vaccine effectiveness (VE) against circulating H1N1 strains. This reduced VE coincided with the introduction of pandemic 2009 H1N1 (A/H1N1pdm09) vaccine virus reassortants, in place of pre-2009 seasonal H1N1 strains. Here, we explored one specific hypothesis for reduced VE; decreased replicative fitness of A/H1N1pdm09 strains in humans.

Purpose: To assess outcome of phacoemulsification in cats.

Methods: Records of 71 cats (82 eyes) from five referral centers were reviewed. Groups were divided by cause of cataract (congenital/juvenile [n = 32], traumatic [n = 33], and secondary to uveitis [n = 6]), and group comparisons were performed for the most common complications: postoperative ocular hypertension (POH), uveitis, corneal ulceration, synechia/dyscoria, and posterior capsular opacity (PCO) in three different time periods: immediately postoperatively, at 1-90 days, and at >90 days.

This work presents a planar, longitudinal mode ultrasonic scalpel microfabricated from monocrystalline silicon wafers. Silicon was selected as the material for the ultrasonic horn due to its high speed of sound and thermal conductivity as well as its low density compared to commonly used titanium based alloys. Combined with a relatively high Young's modulus, a lighter, more efficient design for the ultrasonic scalpel can be implemented which, due to silicon batch manufacturing, can be fabricated at a lower cost.
