Introduction: To compare the clinical outcomes and healthcare utilization of patients enrolled in the multidisciplinary Diabetic Foot in Primary and Tertiary (DEFINITE) Care program with a matched historical cohort and estimate the program's long-term cost-effectiveness using simulation.
Research Design And Methods: This study consisted of two components: a 1-year observational outcome evaluation and a long-term simulation-based cost-effectiveness analysis (CEA). We conducted an observational study to analyze 2798 patients with diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) enrolled in the program between June 2020 and June 2021 (DEFINITE Care group) and 5462 patients with DFUs from June 2016 to December 2017 as historical controls.
To investigate co-infection of bacterial isolates associated with respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in children aged less than two years who were admitted to hospital with confirmed lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI) in Kelantan, Malaysia. The demographic data, clinical history, case management, haematological as well as infectious parameters (white blood cell differential and count, plus C-reactive protein, CRP) of the patients were systematically recorded. Less than one-third of cases were RSV-positive (21.

With limited understanding of nonadherence and its impacts on care outcomes, this study aimed to explore the reasons and factors associated with nonadherence in an integrated diabetic limb salvage (DLS) programme and evaluate its effects on care outcomes. This study included 2798 DFU patients who were enrolled in an integrated DLS programme across multiple institutions in central and northern Singapore from 2020 to 2021.

Percutaneous deep vein arterialization (DVA) is a novel endovascular technique which allows the shunting of blood through an arteriovenous fistula and native vein into the lower limb, typically employed in no-option chronic limb-threatening ischemia.
Method: We present a case illustrating the unconventional use of DVA for limb salvage in a patient presenting with subacute limb ischemia refractive to surgical treatment, endovascular revascularization, and medical therapy.

Diabetic Foot in Primary and Tertiary (DEFINITE) Care is an inter-institutional, multidisciplinary team (MDT) program for patients with diabetic foot ulcers (DFU) within a healthcare cluster in Singapore. This is one of our subgroup analyses within DEFINITE Care, assessing clinical outcomes of lower extremity amputation prevention program (LEAPP), a multidisciplinary diabetic foot clinic, and non-LEAPP patients within the program. From June 2020 to June 2022, 2798 patients within the DEFINITE cohort completed a minimum of 12-month follow up.

After starting MHT, the risk of VTE seems to be at its highest, declining to the non-HRT user baseline level of risk after stopping. Whether estrogen-only or estrogen-progestin HRT combination is linked to a similar risk of VTE is unclear from the available evidence.

Results showed that elderly programme patients had lower odds of amputation-free survival (odds ratio: 0.64, 95% CI: 0.

Given the lack of consensus data on the factors affecting patient adherence, a systematic review was performed to identify and classify factors according to the WHO Dimensions of Adherence to Long-Term Therapies.
Methods: Six hundred and forty-three articles from PubMed, Embase, and Scopus were reviewed.
Chronic wounds contribute to significant healthcare and economic burden worldwide. Wound assessment remains challenging given its complex and dynamic nature. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning methods in wound analysis is promising.

Methods: This two-institutional, prospective, single-arm pilot study examined patients with DFU.
Objective: To estimate the 'cost of illness' arising from chronic wounds in Singapore.
Design: Incidence-based cost of illness study using evidence from a range of sources.
Setting: Singapore health services.
Background And Aims: Venous leg ulcers (VLUs) are associated with significant morbidity and poor quality of life (QOL). Compression therapy and wound dressing are the mainstay treatment options. Technology Lipido-Colloid Impregnated with Silver (TLC-Ag) reduces bacterial load and Technology Lipido-Colloid Nano-Oligosaccharide Factor (TLC-NOSF) reduces elevated matrix metalloproteinases and improve wound healing.

Non-invasive multi-modality imaging approaches using computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and nuclear imaging have emerged as valuable tools for assessing PAD atheromatous plaques and vessel walls. This review provides an overview of these different imaging techniques, their advantages, limitations, and recent advancements.

We aim to explore the views of patients, carers and healthcare providers (HCPs) regarding the use of a novel patient-owned wound surveillance application as part of outpatient management of patients with diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs).
Methods: Semi-structured online interviews were conducted with patients, carers and HCPs in wound care for DFUs.
Introduction: Diabetes foot disease (DFD) contributes to poor quality of life, clinical and economic burden. Multidisciplinary diabetes foot teams provide prompt access to specialist teams thereby improving limb salvage. We present a 17-year review of an inpatient multidisciplinary clinical care path (MCCP) for DFD in Singapore.

PaC progression is facilitated by its interaction with the complex and multifaceted tumor microenvironment (TME). In the TME, cancer cells and surrounding stromal cells constantly communicate with each other via the secretion and uptake of factors including cytokines, chemokines, growth factors, metabolites, and extracellular vesicles (EVs), reshaping the landscape of PaC.

Objective: Venous leg ulcers (VLUs) are both chronic and recurrent. The treatment of such ulcers often require multiple outpatient visits and dressing changes. Several reports on the costs of treating such VLUs have been reported in the west.

This study aims to evaluate the wound healing and quality of life for patients with venous leg ulcers (VLUs) in a Southeast Asian population.

Despite the variety of wound imaging systems available in the market for wound assessment and surveillance, few are clinically validated among patients of Asian ethnicity. We aimed to clinically validate the accuracy of a smartphone wound application (Tissue Analytics [TA], Net Health Systems Inc, Florida, USA), versus conventional wound measurements (visual approximation and paper rulers), in patients of Asian ethnicity with venous leg ulcers (VLU).

Objective: In the present retrospective, assessor-blinded cross-sectional study, we compared the diagnostic efficacy of the relaxation-enhanced angiography without contrast and triggering (REACT) protocol for magnetic resonance venography (MRV) and intravascular ultrasound (IVUS).
Methods: All patients without prior lower limb vascular stenting who had undergone MRV with the REACT protocol and IVUS at our institution from January 2018 to May 2020 were included. The REACT protocol for MRV comprises three main phases: the adiabatic-based T2-preparation module, the non-volume-selective short tau inversion recovery pulse sequence, and the three-dimensional, modified two-point chemical-shift water-fat separated turbo-field echo pulse sequence.

Objective: Ensuring reliable central venous access with the fewest complications is vital for cancer patients receiving chemotherapy. A systematic review and network meta-analysis was conducted to compare the safety, quality of life, and cost-effectiveness of different types of central venous access devices (CVADs) for patients receiving chemotherapy.
Methods: The PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane databases were searched from inception to August 20, 2021 for randomized controlled trials comparing the various CVADs (ie, nontunneled central venous catheters [CVCs], peripherally inserted CVCs [PICCs], totally implantable venous access ports [TIVAPs], and tunneled CVCs).
