: Mutations in succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) and fumarate hydratase (FH) give rise to various familial cancer syndromes, with these alterations being characteristic of certain types of histomorphologically specific leiomyomas that hold significant predictive value. : This study presents two cases of uterine leiomyomas exhibiting rare histomorphological and genetic characteristics, which are crucial for prognosis and further treatment. : Distinct histopathological features such as marked nuclear atypia, intracellular eosinophilic globules, and abnormal intratumoral vessels raise suspicion for specific leiomyoma subtypes, which carry predictive significance for additional hereditary cancer syndromes.

Differences in Cholesterol Metabolism, Hepato-Intestinal Aging, and Hepatic Endocrine Milieu in Rats as Affected by the Sex and Age.

Age and sex influence serum cholesterol levels, but the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. To investigate further, we measured cholesterol, precursors (surrogate synthesis markers), degradation products (oxysterols and bile acid precursors) in serum, the liver, jejunum, and ileum, as well as serum plant sterols (intestinal absorption markers) in male and female Wistar rats (4 and 24 months old). The analysis of histomorphometric and oxidative stress parameters (superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutathione-related enzyme activities, lipid peroxide, and protein carbonyl concentrations) in the liver and jejunum offered further insights into the age- and sex-related differences.

Curious Case of Superfitial Spreading Cervical Squamocellular Carcinoma with Adnexal Involvement.

: Cervical squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) usually showed an infiltrative growth pattern into endocervical stroma. In rare cases, SCC spreads superficially as an intraepithelial lesion to proximal uterine segments, and more rarely, involves invasive and more aggressive behavior on secondary sites. : In this study, we present the case of an interesting form of cervical SCC growth and we discuss the possible reasons for that presentation.

Prognostic relevance of autophagy-related markers p62, LC3, and Beclin1 in ovarian cancer.

Aim: To analyze the expression of autophagy markers p62, LC3, and Beclin1 in ovarian cancer tissue and evaluate the prognostic potential of these markers.

Methods: The study enrolled 328 patients: 122 with epithelial ovarian carcinoma, 42 with atypical proliferative tumor, and 164 with benign epithelial ovarian tumor. The expression of p62, LC3, and Beclin1 was analyzed in central and invasive tumor segments with immunohistochemistry combined with tissue microarray.

One-pot, Pd-catalyzed synthesis of trans-dihydrobenzofurans from o-aminophenols.

An efficient and facile synthesis of trans-dihydrobenzofurans has been accomplished from o-aminophenols and phenylpropenes via a novel (one-pot) diastereoselective Pd-catalyzed oxyarylation reaction. The development and optimization of this method is described.
