Two-dimensional (2D) altermagnetism was recently proposed to be attainable in twisted antiferromagnetic bilayers providing an experimentally feasible approach to realize it in 2D materials. Nevertheless, a comprehensive understanding of the mechanism governing the appearance of altermagnetism in bilayer systems is still absent. In the present Letter, we address this gap by introducing a general stacking theory (GST) as a key condition for the emergence of altermagnetism in bilayer systems.

In this study, we developed a deep learning-based algorithm for identifying the true and false lumens in the aorta on non-contrast-enhanced computed tomography (NCE-CT) scans and to ascertain the presence of aortic dissection. Additionally, we compared the diagnostic performance of this algorithm with that of radiologists in detecting aortic dissection.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFAortic dissection (AD), caused by tearing of the intima and avulsion of the aortic media, is a severe threat to patient life and organ function. Iron is closely related to dissection formation and organ injury, but the mechanism of iron ion transport disorder in endothelial cells (ECs) remains unclear. We identified the characteristic EC of dissection with iron overload by single-cell RNA sequencing data.

The current approaches predominantly rely on synthetic materials tailored to specific bacteria, considering their cell walls or oxygen requirements. Herein, inspired by intricate bacterial communication, a natural implant is proposed coating utilizing bacterial outer membrane vesicles (OMVs), essential components in bacterial signaling, integrated onto diverse implant surfaces through a universal poly (tannic acid) bridging layer.

Background: Anaemia (low haemoglobin [Hb]) is well known to be associated with high mortality and adverse cardiac events following surgical treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA). However, little is known about the relationship of AAA volume and Hb level alterations with endovascular repair of AAA. This study aimed to examine the changes in the Hb level and aneurysm volume before and after endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) for AAA and determine the relationship between the post-operative Hb level and the volume loss of AAA.

Inspired by polar bear thermal regulation, we present a "bio-based endogenic thermal-adaptive booster" implant coating. This coating integrates a photothermal poly(tannic acid) (pTA) layer, mimicking the "polar bear dark skin", securely linked with anti-inflammatory dexamethasone (Dex), resembling the "secretion", and a red blood cell membrane (RBCM) layer, forming the insulating "transparent fur".

Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the impact of sex differences on 30-day operative mortality after ATAAD surgery and to determine if other covariates modify the association.
Methods: Consecutive patients (N = 5670) with surgically repaired ATAAD were identified from the multicenter China 5A study.
The ABB'X-type lead-free halide perovskite CsNaInCl has demonstrated limited luminescence performance attributed to parity-forbidden transitions in its intrinsic form. While extensive exploration has been dedicated to partial cation substitution in CsNaInCl, there is a noticeable gap in understanding the impact of anion composition on this material. In this study, we investigated the influence of anion composition on the luminescence performance of CsNaInX using first-principles calculations.

Multifold degenerate phonons have received much attention due to their nontrivial monopole topological charge and fascinating boundary states. Although Yurecently provides a comprehensive list of all potential nodal points for systems with specific space groups (SGs) (2022375). However, our understanding of the fundamental mechanisms that give rise to the formation of fourfold-degenerate (FD) phonons is still limited.

Herein, we have developed an intelligent cell membrane-based nanosystem, denoted as MM@DAu NPs, which seamlessly integrates cascade-targeting capabilities with controllable antibacterial functions for the precise elimination of intracellular bacteria. MM@DAu NPs feature a core comprising D-alanine-functionalized gold nanoparticles (DAu NPs) enveloped by a macrophage cell membrane (MM) coating.

Recently, there has been growing interest in the field of flat-band physics due to its attractive properties and wide range of practical applications. In this study, we introduce two novel two-dimensional monolayers, namely BCO and BCO, which exhibit a flat band near the Fermi level. These monolayers have been found to be energetically favorable, dynamically stable, and thermodynamically stable based on formation energies, phonon spectra, and molecular dynamics simulations.
